No seriously, most people despise intros
This, they're as annoying as ads if it lasts more than a couple seconds.
(Insert your video contents here)
Well that's all the time we have today! Don't forget to like, comment, give me money on Patreon, subscribe, ring the bell, give me money on Patreon and give me money on Patreon! Seeeee yaaaaaa
And don't make it louder than the rest of your video either, OP.
You want to stand out in a good way, not be another annoying creator with a super loud intro or do the same stuff as everyone else.
All you really need is to be sure that the thumbnail of any of your videos has something recognizable as being "yours." (Preferably, an overlay so that the content can be seen in the background. Custom title with the subject in it is vasty prefered, too.)
A brief welcome statement to your audience is appreciated. Mention your channel or proper name - Lots of people click on stuff and only watch it for a second or two.
Do not start off with a "like-and-subscribe" statement... It's considered trite, these days. Put that somewhere in the body of your presentation or at the end, but say it yourself in each video - Speak to your audience and don't treat them like robots.
Any graphic/sound/anything sequence that you traditionally use as an "intro" shouldn't last more than a two or three seconds. In fact, an overlay with a logo that pops up at the bottom of the screen, with your well-thought-out channel name legibly displayed, is about all you really need.
Every video needs a title that stays firmly within a set of conventions suitable for informing anyone who reads it. I know it's not "an intro" but please title your vids appropriately so that the subject matter is entirely clear.
Any obtrusive, flashy, loud, crappy music garbage intro tells me that I should not be watching that video. Period. And, it also tells me I shouldn't watch any of that youtuber's videos because I will be assaulted as soon as they start playing.
And, unless you are mute, you need to speak. I know a lot of young people don't like to speak in their videos. I do understand. But, if you want to actually gain viewers, you really need to speak. Youtube has decent captioning capability. I don't know about Twitch, etc.
Constantly starting a video saying "Hey im (name) of (channel name)" is incredibly annoying; if people are subscribed or tend to watch a creator - they know. They can also easily look at the channel name.
Repetition is annoyance especially when it dumbs down a channel.
Shouldn't be done at all, nor the "hit the bell icon", if people can't figure out the site but have a channel just to subscribe to people, that's moreover on them. But the basic presumption should be "users know how to use the absolute most basic features and can choose to do so if they wish", if they don't it's on them.
Agreed.
With a thumbnail that isn't clickbait in nature, keep that in mind too, @OP
I tend not to watch people for this very reason. It does tell me the quality is going to be relatively poor overall
Keep all of those in mind, OP, they can be the death (or preventing it from taking off) of your channel if you annoy users.
otherwise I would have assumed that the subcribtion button was the only thing you could use to know when a channel had new videos , never assume that everyone know everything about the website , also if your audience don't know that it's can be a loss for you and not just them.
if you ever ask peoples to like and subcribe then do it at the very end of the video , at least those who are still watching by that point are those most likely to do it , personally I find it to be a nice reminder if it's from a channel that do contents on a regular basis.
So far as an entire video describing you and your channel, don't. People will figure out what you and your channel are all about on their own. And if you evolve your content you'll end up contradicting whatever video you put up before.
- You need an overused after effects template so you have just to change the letters to your channel name.
- It's essential that the Dubstep music is MUCH louder than your video.
- It's essential that the intro has at least 30 seconds runtime.
= Profit.
