How do people get 1000+ hours in 1 game?
Before you answer, I know you get it from playing the game, but I don't really see how one game can keep someone so invested!

Well, I had 1,000 hours on CS:GO on my other account, I have like 30k hours on Maplestory the original one and I'm creeping up on 700 hours in R6 Siege.

If you like the game, you like it.

For me, I can't play much when I'm working, but this past year I've been on disability due to a back injury and have had plenty of time.

Some games have high replay value. Shooters are very easy to rack up 1k hours in for instance.
I idle a lot of game (because I like doing it) but I have many hand full of games over the year online and offline I have put many 1000+ hours into them because I find them enjoyable and replay them a few times.

Warframe, GTA, Skyrim, Arma is getting really close.
I enjoy some games far more than others. It really helps when you have funny friends to enjoy them with.

If you play a game each day for two hours only for one year, you'll clock in 730 hours played. So do the math - it's not hard to get that amount of play time in a game.

Well, I played those games for hours and hours .... and they accumulated.

I have almost 1000 in Fallout 4, but when it comes to games like this I'm kind of a hoarder, and often end up over encumbered, that could play some role. :lunar2019piginablanket:

It usually happens over the course of several years with constantly updating games.

Some games are good enough to keep player interested and have plenty to do. Others are so grindy that you'll eventually drop it for months after no-lifing it for ~500 hours, rinse and repeat.

Still, I'd struggle to do that without getting bored of it.

Once I finish a game, I like to move on and try a new one.

Yes, but some games in theory at least, are not able to be finished. My post was more of a logical suggestion of how a person can have that much time in a video-game that they didn't idle. That said, I have about two dozen games with over 1k hours played if memory serves me right. What can I say? I'm easily entertained. :pug:

True... and it depends on the type of game too...

Games with missions are over after the mission or levels are completed... I might not have 1K hours in a game.. but I have two open world games that have no missions or levels and is basically endless.... as long as I have imagination and come up with new ideas... there's no real reason to move on or get bored of it...

To be honest... I rather play open world games.... finishing a game is kind of sad in a way to me.

But then again I just might be crazy that way ;) lol

( or what Coffinmaw said )

You never played Paradox games, have you.

That's true. Open-ended strategy or sandbox games would be much easier to clock up a high number of hours in.

Yup, there's infinite replay value for some games. Same goes for many multiplayer games, be they FPS or MMOs. Easy to put in thousands of hours if the game is around for years, receives updates and always brings something new.

Now if someone had 1000+ hours in a game that is basically on rails, like some single player games, I'd be wondering what they're really doing.

Some games simply are fun? I own CM 01/02 since 2001, I simply love the game. And in all those years you can rack up quite some hours.
Done it on a few games, no so hard if you like it or it has community.
Because some games have an ungodly amount of content along with NG+ unlockables. Factor in online play that has PvP and has even more grindy unlockables and it's easy enough.
