lol EA.
I try to buy them on their own platforms to avoid that issue.
Course, probably better to not give Electronic Arts or Ubisoft money to begin with. Make of that what you will.
No regrets.

I unironically preordered Spore from Gamestop back in the day. I never received my copy. Just as well, IIRC that was the game that got them hit with a class action lawsuit because of SecuROM - also known as blatant malware on par with SpySheriff. Seriously, only a matter of time before someone sues someone over Denuvo doing similar ♥♥♥♥♥.
Course, I haven't had the misfortune to be on the receiving end of that particular malware. SecuROM though, bricked one of my PCs and damaged the disc drives of a couple others. In terms of malware I've dealt with, it's about as annoying as SpySheriff or that bitcoin miner trojan I had to take BleachBit to a while back - though those two didn't brick one PC and damage the disc drives of several others.
Seriously, anyone who unironically supports DRM might as well be in bed with black hats, because they unironically support malware. Almost as despicable as script kiddies.
I don't even care they don't affect the game in any way.
Got Far Cry Primal once, though, when I didn't knew about that account ♥♥♥♥.
Installed it, unistalled it, asked for a refund and wiped out the Ubisoft registry from my machine. ♥♥♥♥ that.
It's pretty hard to miss.
