If Terraria was discounted more, I'd say get that, because you get many hours that you can play all with the same character while in Don't Starve, you'll rather get many hours with many characters.
and as other said terraria is usually discounter more than it is right now
Better combat. Rewards you more for exploring. Better building mechanics. More balanced. Far more content.
While it doesn't have a hunger bar or sanity bar it's just more fun to play.
I have played Don't Starve together but it's a bit silly. I get freezing temperatures during rain in spring and get frostbites. Like what the hell? It was 23 C degree but the rain gets it down to 0?
Combat is just bad in the game. There isn't much to farm.
While it doesn't have the food or sanity survival aspect it has a lot of other ways to make up for it.
There are times when there will be far more monsters around. There will be events. Bosses will show up. Night time is generally harder. So if someone decides to play a Hardcore character the game can get quite hard.
Bosses don't randomly show up early on with the exception of the eye of ctulhu, which needs you to fulfill certain requirements for it to be eligible to spawn, and you'll most definitely be able to kill it by the time it starts spawning, or at the very least survive the encounter. There's also slime king, but he's not a challenge at all.
Night time is not hard at all, zombies are trash mobs that you destroy after getting something as easy to get as an iron/lead broadsword, demon eyes are fairly easy to kill as well, if a little annoying without a ranged weapon. Exploring caves is way more of a challenge.
