MREs
Ever had a military ration?

Quite a few people make review videos of Meal Ready to Eat packs. Tried a couple packs, seems like it might be good for camping and stockpiling for worst-case-scenario situations.

Vegetarian options do exist, but I doubt anything like this would qualify as full vegan.
I have. Not that terrible as people say.
I've had actual US Army MREs. My father used to bring a box home after training exercises in the field (full box of 12 meals). I loved those things growing up. Too bad he had to stop. Some people were selling them to Army Surplus stores so they had to stop allowing soldiers to take any home.

The civilian ones are surprisingly hard to come by, especially at start of shelf life.

Wish I could still get them. I loved them for camping or to eat through out the day (about 3-5k calories a pack).
In Canada, I don't know if we have NATO MREs or what they were, but in my mind, it's nothing but vomit in a silver bag. They are disgusting.

There were certain ones that weren't so bad, and a couple of deserts that were actually tasty, but the sheer horror of facing another frozen brick of vomit that I had to "warm up" in my armpit just kind of makes me puke a bit in my mouth.

To be fair, they are supposed to be boiled and warmed up which would no doubt improve the taste but we didn't typically have the luxury of campfires. Fires give away your position.

I knew people who seemed to genuinely like some of it, and we'd often haggle and trade our rations within the group.

Survival isn't really that important to me at this point. Any MREs I get, I'll gladly trade you for cigarettes and whiskey!
Only tried swedish MRE (wich i got from my brother), some meals are what you can find in store imo (can be wrong). They where allright easy to make (just add hot water).

I served so yea.

They're packed with more calories than you'd normally consume because they're expected to be burnt off.

They constipate the bowels so warfighting needs less breaks pooping.

They change drastically every 10 years or so. I'd expect the newer the tastier since all the forces are going full on sissypants these days. Maybe you'll get the Baked Alaska, or perhaps the giant crab legs and sake...:OhNoBlue:
Yummy. Food army of one package. Camouflaged food brick.

First we unpack. Opens like a snack. Won’t make us yack. Eat it in our flak.
Tried it once. They taste awful and pack too much calorie for my needs. I'll take big mac over mre every day

I had a macaroni and cheese one once, that ♥♥♥♥ was nasty
Yes, I've had them. Soldiers are active so they tend to have a lot of calories, and some of them are delicious. Others? Wouldn't feed them to a dog.

They normally come with crackers, pb&j or cheese spread, the main course, Powerade or Gatorade, gum, and a dessert bar or candy. I heard they also used to come with smokes.

I literally have one in my desk drawer right next to me.
Their not bad or great tasting, kinda ok. Camping meals if you can't cook would be a good choice. But not stockpiling, to expensive compared with copy canning and freeze dried. Mre's prices fluctuate but its about $120 a case of 12. That's $900 for a 90 day supply. Better to copy can and rotate the food you do enjoy eating. Then you can supplement with freeze dried and mre's.
