I've never played a Mario game. What is it like?

[An Easy Target]

As title asks. I've seen gameplay, the name and influence is inescapable, and I have bought and played a game I assume is a tribute to Mario on my Steam account; however, I've never laid a controller on an actual, original, Mario game.

I'm pretty sure I don't need to play a Mario game, but I can't help but wonder what sort of experience I'm passing on.

A lot of jumping and stepping on enemies.

And the consuming of Amanita muscaria? Which I don't think is generally safe for human consumption at all.

It is in small quantities, though you will trip balls.

Well it will sound like your generic 2D side scroller or 3D platformer because well Mario inspired most Platformers for as long as it existed.

This one is pretty hard, introduced the map in the Mario games to select the level you want to do, made new shortcuts and secrets and probably stuff i forgot aside the most broken power up that is the Tanuki power up.

It has many imagionary creatures and world. Such as: living fire or talking plants. Unusual crossbreeds between things. Walking rocks, clouds with eyes, planets made of cheese, etc.

I'm 20 feet away from the finish line in 1st place, I sure hope nothing will stop me in these last remaining seconds.

[Electric Cupcake]

The SNES All-Stars versions of 1-3 and World are something every gamer must experience.

Or else SMB1 Deluxe on GBC and SMB2-4 on GBA.

Nothing yet has topped them. None of the 3d ones or the "New" SMBs.

Legend of the Seven Stars and the Mario Kart series are worth playing too, of course. And the original Black Box Jumpman games and the arcade game, of course.

The Super Mario Land trilogy is kind of hit or miss.

2D mario games usually have great levels design and very balanced gameplay , challenging at first but still fair enough that you're gonna feel like a pro if you put enough time in them.
