To be honest, I don't really feel bad if it's around my garden since they are pests and I use snail repellant to protect my crops anyway. But outside the garden, I'd try to avoid them.
So many lives were lost that day. Rest in peace.
On that note, if you're a vegan it's probably best not to contemplate how many rabbits, toads, snakes, spiders, moles, etc., die every time crops are harvested.
From insects to animals to plants to microbial life, it is not possible to suggest otherwise.
You snuff out life so that yours may continue - end of story.
Every person who has ever taken a walk has killed many small creatures that were trodden under foot. If you've ever ridden in a vehicle, slept under a roof, washed yourself, scratched an itch, taken a breath, etc.
It isn't a question of guilt or innocence, it's a question of degree and intent.
Strictly going with the laws of probability, probably - but I don't recall ever doing so.
