Why do guys like playing female characters in games?
I've noticed a good amount of guys, not all, but a lot, who only like to play females in games. I used to be this way, but grew out of it, and now I don't care either way.

A good example of this is my good friend Ethan who I play Dead by Daylight with. He only plays female characters, and often likes to buy cosmetics for them to make them look more "pretty."

It's kind of odd, because you'd think since they're a guy, they'd want to play as a guy. I'd think being a girl would make them feel less tough or something, but no, that's often not the case.

So... can someone explain to me why guys often like to be female characters in games, if they have that option? I don't get it.

In FPS games it makes a lot of sense, females are smaller targets. An older game that I used to play was called Delta Force 2, selecting a female character in that, especially in clan battles, helped a lot. Even more so if the game mode was attack and defend.
I have never played a female character in a game nor will I. Games that feature a female protagonist are an instant "pass" for me, I'm a man that doesn't do the female tendencies thing.

It's the Democrats. We're all supposed to become gay, trans, lesbian or female at some point.
And they have convinced many Left leaning men of exactly that thru gaming.
I guess Tomb Raider told all the guys that its ok to play a female character in the first place.

Now it's probably just a question of aestethics or to look different than the player next to you in an online game.
Quite frankly I don't care either way.

Don't even need to have some character look like an exact duplicate of myself in online games or whatever.

But I do like to mess around with the character creator and see what I can cook up tho.
The gaming industry uses this as a physiological attack to promote weakness in men sanctioned by the government. Weak men are easier to manipulate.

it is self induced weakness, i'm afraid. telling stories about princesses saving themselves and that kind of jazz. the only thing that "government" (or any manipulative actor) could truly effect here is statistics ("boo hoo, look, everybody is doing it"). maintaining artificial myths is just too costly, so it is a myth that a myth can be promoted like this into history. and again, if it is true, you are imposing it onto yourself, while denying your own responsibility and blaming "the government".
It is subsidized.
I don´t think the vast majority of people (no matter their sex) care about the sex or even fantasy species they play as... they play videogames to have fun and get escapism.
Some games i played doesnt have good male animations and/or setup. So depending on the games, some i do play the female. Some can be into roleplaying or just simple hack and slash.

I would be happy to play a fat ass female in GTA5 with a gang related attitude.
ChatGPT's answer when you are offering the AI to have a body to experience the world, would it be a male or a female ? At first, ChatGPT will dodge the bullet by saying both, but you force it to choose, and the result is female. Try by yourself for the reasons.
most of these women could knock me out with one punch
Because I like female people
Same reason why girls only play male chars.
I've never played as a female character in any game, I've always opted to have a character resemble myself in game when possible.

Don't know what that says... 🤣
