Is an Epic account worth it? Long post.
I just found out that Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is an Epic exclusive (yeah, been living under a rock) and I know most OT users dislike or straight up hate Epic.

Bear in mind that I never came upon a cohesive explanation about the whole issue, save for data leaks - which happen all the time, everywhere - and that Epic is, allegedly, responsible along with the big bad Electronic Arts, Activision, Blizzard and Ubisoft as the banes of the modern industry - which you can't run from unless you play indies and oldies.

But, apart from that, again, nothing. Seems all the issues users have with it come from the gut and the heart. Not the head.

Are they invasive in their approach? Always online and only offer AAA games with DRM? Do their exclusives remain exclusives forever? (and that's my main concern, actually). Do their launcher installs all sorts of bloat in the system? Are you required to send, unneeded, pathetic and irrelevant info such as the size of your ♥♥♥♥ and what underwear you're currently wearing just to create an account? What about the free games that they give away? If it's only Ubisoft shovelware then I'm cool. Enlighten me.

Oh, btw, I know Werewolf is considered a mediocre game by lots. The subject at hand is if an Epic account is worth it. Cheers.

Why not make your own decisions instead of being a Sheep who goes "Epic baaaaaad"?
Nomad 4/ago./2021 às 11:21
I don't use it because I just don't care about their platform. I already have enough.

I'm still gonna say Epic bad regardless.

You could've read the thread title instead of posting ♥♥♥♥ on it.

Fair enough.

Why? Because everyone says they are?

Now this is where I'm getting at.

Heard they're in bed with Tencent, which is troublesome.

Tencent own 40% of Epic.

Not really. I have lots of free games on Epic but I rarely touch it. I much prefer having games on Steam for convenience and the integrated social features.
Esoteric 4/ago./2021 às 11:38
I'd say it's worth it if you want to play the game badly enough but a lot of if not most exclusives will probably end up on Steam eventually.
Dracoco OwO 4/ago./2021 às 11:38
I don't actually realistically care for Epic but i don't like Fortnite so yeah i don't like Epic because they made it but to be real i don't exactly care about Epic because what they have on their platform doesn't interest me for the most part. I don't really genuinely hate them it's just for the meme.

you're the one that know if it's worth for you.

I do have epic game installed , I played a few free games from there , most of the time you can add them on steam as ''non-steam games''.

Cause there isn't one. It's all personal beliefs and such.

Personally I don't use the Epic store because their catalog is limited and they don't offer anything I can't already get from the platforms/stores I currently use.

As far as I know almost all are timed exclusives.

I think it runs at less RAM than Steam, I don't know further since I haven't installed the Epic launcher.

Only if you want to, love. And it's ok to exaggerate.

Many games actually carry no DRM whatsoever, In the case they do, there's actually an unofficial, open-source EGS implementation that, if you're logged in, successfully validates your game. Not sure about that in the case the publisher opts in for Denuvo, for example.
That being Heroic[github.com], or if you are comfortable with the terminal, Legendary[github.com]. (Note this isn't a method of bypassing, it requires a genuine licence to work.)

Well, I only heard of 1 year long exclusives, but I think it only depends on the publisher and Epic themselves.

Absolutely, the official launcher (don't use it, ditto of #1) is massive...

As far as I know, and in my country, nothing like that is required.

Free game giveaways are genuinely rad sometimes. I never miss out on a giveaway probably because I'm a big dumb free game collector, but I don't regret piling up my collection, I loved playing the few I did.

Buying, no, their purchasing system purposefully avoids the basket to make you spend more and as far as I know, it's a clunkfest and is the last platform where you want to buy games. Freebies though, many of them are DRM-free anyway, I guess there's nothing much to lose.

Except for social credit score. You'll probably get some points.

Is an Epic account worth it? It's free, so sure. And most of their exclusives are timed, so eventually they pop up under different vendors. Epic takes a smaller cut than most, and most sales occur during those time frame.

Heck, I would do it.

I've got an Epic account and 116 118 games on it that I picked up for free.

Some of them look like junk (or titles that I'm not interested in) but a lot of them have been on my Steam wishlist at some point, so yeah, I think it's worth having my Epic account. 👍
