More likely to happen would be Microsoft or EA buying up Pokemon since they have a lot more money to waste.
They really couldn't ruin Pokemon any more than Nintendo has... I stopped caring about Pokemon after they introduced talking dining chairs and ice cream cones.
So it would likely be a bunch of reboots and crossovers with their own established I.P.s.... And another few rounds of un-creative Pokemon updates based on anthropomorphic office furniture... Then just more reboots and re-releases.
