Who remembers XFIRE?

yes i used it in 2006. it was good because it tracked my games, mods with hour playtime. it beat steam at the time because steam didn't have profiles or playtime back then it was around 2007 it got implemented.

From what i remember, XFIRE was a recording/communication platform for gamers back in the days before Steam.

Yeah, it was and a little bit more than that. Back then, it also had a section where you can download game demos on there plus you can add custom skins you want to XFIRE. Man, what a lifetime ago. I've used it a quite a bit in my early teen days of Call of Duty before Steam came along.
They did also have its own website including a forum. If I remember right, they had a front page that lists out the number of users on XFIRE and the top games being played the most. WoW back then was the number 1 game that was being played the most.

think of it as steam today, xfire had alot the community features of steam at its time in 2006 when i used it. but steam implemented these features in 2007 and xfire slowly started to die away because even in 2006 and 2007 steam was still big.

i liked xfire was fun, had a chat messenger, screenshots for your games, play time tracker for everything like mods,games even your retail games. the steam chat was bit buggy back then so i used msn and xfire to chat and mIRC for pug matches for cs 1.6.

I wish XFIRE came back lol, not being negative towards Steam but i liked XFIRE a bit more.

If im not wrong on the person, i think Sodapoppin start streaming for the first time on Xfire. I remember him ending his streams with the pony song and then going to bed, sleeping with the stream still on live.

I wish I remembered my old xfire name. I think the Waybackmachine must have some snapshots. I am wondering how many gametime I've on Xfire. Combine it with Steam and it can give an accurate playtime across my life.

MSN + Xfire were good times.
