I didn't even know what a Vtuber was until I saw this thread.
I don't know what to say.. it's kind of weird. But well.. if they are happy with that... *shrug*

You know, I think if whoever develops that program, improves it and especially adds non-anime characters.. maybe it could become a trend on YT, just for a while. Sometimes people just want to pretend they're anything but human beings, lol.

In any case, I don't really care. I use Youtube to listen to music mostly.

Vtuber? Like the people that use VR animoo characters? Or the people that use cartoon characters as an avatar? Weebs gonna weeb, but at the very least they should get better Motion capture cameras and programs... That clunky "I'm holding a VR controller" thing can be very uncanny valley.. .And the dead eyes... Much cringe....

As for people that use an avatar of some sort without live face cam:

With "Cancel Culture" being in full swing over the most tiny of things, and people with anxiety issues, the whole "Virtual Youtuber" thing will keep going.

Though mainly over the "Cancel culture" crap.

Also, when the internet was first becoming a "thing", there were TONS of PSA's on why you should NEVER use your real name or face online, and again, back to "cancel culture", that seems to be even MORE true today.

I look at it like I do furry types... people too ugly to have a normal social experience.

Kind of creepy honestly. But if you feel you need to do that for attention/getting laid then I guess it is best for everyone involved to not see a face.

I'll stick to being human though, even being old I never thought I was that ugly... and not into surprise mechanics in life or games.
