4K Gaming?

Why hasn't 4K gaming become as popular on PC? Only 1.84% play at 4K according to the Steam survey.

For me, its because I'd rather play games at higher frames per second as opposed to higher resolution and 60 frames.

Don't see a difference on anything higher than 1440p.

I used to think 4K matter but it really don't do much better then 2K
only thing you notice is the proccess power requested to run from 2K to 4K

also i read some people commenting on HDR that's total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ how can colors be better if all of them are generated and created on a computer away?.

if your camera have HDR hell yea you see the how good it is, when you run Odyssey on HDR or not it's just generated crap from the devs.

But it is not limited it's self, so people can go higher.

Because a monitor can be limited in the colors and depth that it can produce. HDR is supposed to fix this issue with them and allow for more bright/dark and vibrant/muted colors to be displayed then what is possible with out.

Basically for more realistic coloring.

For many players 1080p is enough. And for more enthusiastic players, 1080p@144 or even 1440p@144 > 4K@60.

I game at 720p@60 lol

also wanna add that articles are funny, they show a piece of movie with HDR on and off but both are displayed on my monitor that's not have HDR... meaning magic>!!!

it's like a comercial of best sound system playing on your crapy cheap earpods
and you think wow that do sounds gooooood

The hardware on you monitor can not accept the signals needed for HDR, so a new monitor that supports HDR is needed. Just like when monitors went from a 16 bit color depth to a 32 bit color depth.

It is simply a new tech that allows for such vibrancy that HDR produces to be displayed. It requires hardware and software.

Just because a video card an out-put at that vibrancy does not mean the monitor can display it.

The article is to explain that HDR is and how it works. If you wan to see it demonstrated, I suggest going to a place that sells TVs.

HDR looks fantastic and a far bigger selling point than 4K for me should I need to buy a new monitor or TV.

There is no 4K gaming because 4K is a cinema standard not used in consumer monitors. What comes to UHD you are talking about - there's very little benefit in 2160p over 1440p. 1440p 144Hz is a way better overall experience.

4K in unneccesary. 1440p144hz is a more enjoyable experience, and 1440p is more than enough for a monitor unless you have a huge 32" or above.

well, most likely those statistics are showing exactly this. majority of gamers are still under-aged, and in most cases they can't get anything they want. while adults most likely are already confronted with their shadows in life and don't need 4k gaming.
