CPU causing massive fps drops...
Been having this issue for 2 years. My CPU shows 40-60 degrees celsius but when my FPS drops it shows 160-200 (which in think is unrealistic,i mean seriously). These drops last for 1-2 minutes, and they appear once every few minutes. It makes gaming impossible for me,except maybe some REALLY low-spec games where my fps drops from 200 to 60,so i feel no difference, but in games like BF1 where my fps drops from 60 to 15-20 then it's really annoying.
AMD-FX 6100.Tried changing thermal paste like 6 times,changed coolers 2 times,still nothing

Your cpu has a clockspeed of 3.6 so it's definitely not the games that are choking it.
Are you sure you have enough power supplied to the cpu? Is to connected properly?

If your cpu did get that hot, it would shut the pc down so I don't think it's accurate.

Yes,there's enough power supplied, everything is connected.I changed to a better cooler and re-applied thermal paste an hour ago,now on weaker games the fps drops are like from 130 to 100,but more demanding games still drop fps drastically

did you overclock it?

Tip: it takes some time for cooling paste to "settle in" to its optimum functionality.
Also, if that thing reached 200 celcius, it would fry itself like a stun baton so you're most likely just
getting an faulty reading/report.
A normal CPU's limits is ~70 degrees celcius. Some less, some more.
This one is the one you should take in consideration as a CPU that overheats, will shut down the PC to save itself from frying/burning, and from what I gathered, your PC didn't shut down/crash?
So basically, it MIGHT be reporting wrongly, causing errors that interferes and in some spacealien way causes heavy FPS drops. Unexplainable, but............... who knows.

How long have you had it? Most things have an average lifespan of 3 years, but could decrease its life quality if it's kept too hot from time to time.
It's not out of the question that you may have to swap for a new CPU....

When you swapped coolers, did any of them have pre-added cooling paste, and did you use that instead of your own?
Because you may or may not have applied that 3rd party cooling paste incorrectly.
The cooler itself may also(or not also) be incorrectly installed, e.g one side might be pressing down on other electronical units and components.
This happened to me when I bought an enclosed watercooling system for my CPU and still reached 60c from just starting the computer....

I added my own thermal paste.CPU is 5 years old btw, quite old I should say

I did say "average lifespan".

Q1. What program are you using to obtain temp readings, and have you tried other programs and if so are the readings the same.

Q2. When changing thermal paste how are you cleaning the CPU die & cooler ?

Q3. When changing thermal paste how much and how are you applying to the die ?

1.i used CPUID HW monitor, but CPU-Z and one AMD app showed 100-120 degrees celsius.

2.Paper towels

3.pea-sized amount right in the middle of the CPU

Are you sure its not the gpu causing the drop?

Is there enough ram?

Use MSI afterburner and apply the CPU temp reading to your taskbar, and then play your game windowed so you can see it. Is it still the same reading?
