Do pitbulls really deserve the rep they have?
Sure they are strong and have a nasty bite but most are very nice. The lovers say that with the right training and some even said just with a good home, they are as dangerous as a potato. pitbull haters bring up statistics and say they would shoot pitbulls on sight. Pitbull lovers say thats because they were trained to attack or are abused. Pitbull haters just bring up more statistics and just say they are vicious and dangerous. Arguements go on forever before they realise neither of them will give up and stop posting. I don't think pitbulls deserve there bad rep, people make them vicious and get people hurt, those people hate pitbulls, pitbull haters just grew, and so forth. What do ya think about pitbulls and there bad rep?

Edit: spelling mistake (1)

If you train a dog right, regardless of it's breed, it won't attack or become aggressive.
*looks at chihuahua* you sure?

Just that, its gonna be a lot of training to get the devil to play nice (chihuahua's are very aggressive)

Yes. I've had dogs all my life. They're no different then children; if you don't discipline them, they're going to turn into violent, little monsters. Pun not intended.

I don't understand this, Any dog can be taught to fight yes, but it's easier to not train a dog than it is to train a dog. Not to mention there are dog breeds that are completely useless when agressive and now that I think of them, probably couldn't be trained to do much other than play fight

And regardless of how well the dog was trained, it could only take one kid to rub the dog a wrong way to force it to become aggressive. That risk is miniscule in a naturally passive dog breed

If you train a dog right, regardless of it's breed, it won't attack or become aggressive.
There are always exceptions, I've seen extremely well trained dogs do the opposite of what they're supposed to do. Dogs aren't people, they can't understand the reason they're doing something they were trained to do. Dogs aren't perfect know-everythings, each breed is different, and not every dog is the same

True, but most people who stereotype pitbulls as being overly aggressive have never seen a trained one before. As for people who've been attacked by dogs, well, their argument is more sound. Even if I don't agree with it.
They used to be known as "nanny dogs" for a reason. They're very protective, and when they feel threatened they definitely can be dangerous - but more tiny yappy dogs cause far more injuries than these beautiful loving dogs. Mostly because people don't bother training their stupid yappy dogs.
I'm of the mind that there is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners that don't know how to treat them or train them right.

I have two dogs and both of them are Jack Russells, another breed of dog that get a bad rap for being nasty, but my two are the nicest little dogs you could ever hope to meet.
These sort of dogs should require a license to keep.
The attitude of the dog depends on the attitude of the owner/trainer.. I friend of mine had a Pit Bull and because of the way he was brought up, this huge Pitter was the biggest baby/lap dog you would ever know. NEVER had i ever seen the dog get aggresive. But on the other end i knew this POS in town who owned one and this thing was as aggresive as a fracking hellhound and would snap at anyone who got to close, because the guy who owned it treated it like bloody crap.
We had a nice little old lady neighbor with a mean as hell pitbull that would chew through its leash and jump its fence and terrorize the neighborhood kids and cats and even chase cars, and animal control never did anything about it, that is until someone with a big old truck in the neighborhood ran over it with said truck "accidentally", twice.

If they are bred to be mean and protective and territorial, they are gonna be mean and protective and territorial, even when owned by a sweet old lady.
This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pitbull pissed on my foldable chair yesterday when I took my dog to the local dog park
I do think that every breed of dog has the potential to be lovely and not attack or to be violent. But also that every breed of dog has the potential do so, and no matter the discipline or upbringing, you will have to assess the amount of damage certain breeds can do if they will decide to attack.

I have known dogs who were so sweet and kind, well trained, but the first time let off the lead in the countryside will kill a sheep. All dogs I think can just be unpredictable like this. I know that I would be a lot more uneasy about my child and a Staffy or Pitbull in the same room than say a Labrador or Spaniel. Either can attack but the difference is the power in the jaws.

I love all dogs but sorry I just do not trust certain breeds as much around a child.
If you terrorize any living thing enough it will become savage. Maybe there are some peaceful animals which someone said are savage, and that makes people work constantly to bring that out of them. If you just kept them awake enough days anyone who looked at them would swear they're the devil incarnate. Always a good idea to not take things at face value.
yes their a fighting dog,and there's no way i'd let one near children,it's a restricted breed dog in Australia for a reason
