Yes. I've had dogs all my life. They're no different then children; if you don't discipline them, they're going to turn into violent, little monsters. Pun not intended.
True, but most people who stereotype pitbulls as being overly aggressive have never seen a trained one before. As for people who've been attacked by dogs, well, their argument is more sound. Even if I don't agree with it.
I have two dogs and both of them are Jack Russells, another breed of dog that get a bad rap for being nasty, but my two are the nicest little dogs you could ever hope to meet.
If they are bred to be mean and protective and territorial, they are gonna be mean and protective and territorial, even when owned by a sweet old lady.
I have known dogs who were so sweet and kind, well trained, but the first time let off the lead in the countryside will kill a sheep. All dogs I think can just be unpredictable like this. I know that I would be a lot more uneasy about my child and a Staffy or Pitbull in the same room than say a Labrador or Spaniel. Either can attack but the difference is the power in the jaws.
I love all dogs but sorry I just do not trust certain breeds as much around a child.
