It is basic supply and demand. With a solar eclipse coming, prices will rise, especialy at the last minute. I would not be supprised if people are on the streets selling them for at price during the eclipse.

If you have a smart phone, you can use the camera. It will allow you to safely see the eclipse with out risk.

Or any camera with an LCD display would work. Just not one where you look strait through in order to take a picture.
