The company that made Witcher series also owns GOG so they can do that.

Unlike previous giveaways for games you owned, this one is simply intended to get users to connect another platform to GOG Galaxy 2.0. Guess they don't have enough people willing to connect, so are providing an incentive.

Because that's not how you do it apparently. It's utilizing the GOG Galaxy client in order to populate the game by linking accounts there.

Yep. You are required to connect the other service to your account, then wait for all the games to import. Go to the Witcher 3 game and there should be a button for the offer.

By the way, you can't seem to disconnect the service either, despite the "Disconnect" button for it. Clicking on it, then clicking Confirm doesn't do anything.

Honestly, not worth it for the extra copy, imho.

I'm guessing it's due to their servers getting hammered because of the freebie.

That really shouldn't effect the ability to simply disconnect a service.

Oh, absolutely. They really need to improve their infrastructure to prevent things like these in the future.

TBH gog connect is kinda flaky. I barely even look at it much and its constantly crashing on me. It feels like its because its trying to read my steam library and such but like I have 'only' 3000 games and the client seems to have a seizure trying to keep up with it.

Anyway if your steam library is large, expect gog galaxy to take a LONG time syncing every time

Also kinda like with most GOG Connect things, it has a lot of issues knowing if you own DLC or not.

It also has a hilariously dumb progress bar for importing that is so Windows-esque in that it goes immediately to 99% then spends 30 minutes there

Hell mine went from 99% DOWN to 98% just now? Like lol wut?

I had to install an update to the client for the button to appear.

EDIT: It also appears that it grants only the base game through linking through Steam. Despite what the article says.

Yeah, I can't stand this. Shutting down the client now

Note I have a lot of complaints about GOG Galaxy but 'using up all your cpu' isn't one of them.

Yeah I was kinda surpised it said it would even bother detecting the GOTY edition, since none of the previous GOG Connect stuff ever detected things like that and gave you any DLC
