I'm sick and tired of game remakes
Stop remaking the same games and make something new, movies are already bad enough for this, so video games aren't any different. It's a waste of time which should be spent coming up with new ideas for sequels instead.

Now if they made a remake of say... Mechwarrior 1,2 and 3, then I would love it. :lunar2019grinningpig:

Of course, there is the added "Why don't they make remakes of games I want remade!" that is a larger part of such ideas.
I agree.

One great example of this issue is Demon's Souls: a PS3 exclusive that came before the Soulsborne craze ever took off. Most of the people that're fans of FromSoft today were never around to experience it, unlike every other title that has come out since.

Yet it got passed up for a remaster / remake by Dark Souls 1, which was readily available (and fixed) on PC beforehand.

Sadly, to much money risk in making something brand new. That's why there rehash the same things year upon year.

Indy developers are very important to moving the games industry forward, new ideas found in indy games are picked up by the bigger AAA+ studio's.

Dont forget tiredsome sequalls just stop with that and come upp with some new.
TBH some games are just good and deserv to be remake/remastered if the orignall dosent really work on newer hardware.

There are plenty of games with different ideas out there already. Gamers keep buying the new shiny thing instead.

Remakes get made for the same reason Fifa keeps getting made: it works. There isn't really a problem with that any more than it's a problem that your local baker still sells bread and hasn't moved onto selling soup instead.

The industry needs a crash, or some large event that forces publishers to allow more creative freedom and passion to come through in the developers' work, if we want to get back to getting some really amazing games.
Gamer "we need another 1983" fetishism is bizarre. Game development is already hugely volatile and risky outside a few corporate paths. People losing their jobs en masse doesn't make anyone want to take more risk.

What about fan remakes?

What about half-life 3, left 4 dead 3 and portal 3... this is what valve fans have been asking for.

On Console I would happily buy a remastered game as there was sometimes a big difference between the remaster versus the original, but since being on PC I’m more careful about buying because if the difference isn’t big enough for me to justify the purchase than I won’t. For example Mafia 2/3 I isn’t a big enough difference if I were going to go out and buy it (yes I know existing owners of the game get the upgraded version for free), but Mafia 2 looks like an actual remake.

But some remakes are actually really, really good. Like the Resident Evil remakes.
Black Mesa aswell.
Could've been a potential GOTY candidate if it was a Valve game.

If they're good, I like.

Look Resi Evil 2 and 3 remakes - better than originals in every way save perhaps for the scare factor.

Same game with better graphics/other important improvements is also a good thing for me.

They lost what made them resident evil games.
Dafuq i enjoy the games now mutch more then thenold once i still have and lately played for comperison

There is tonz of ideas out there, its a little hard to believe I can think of tonz, but a billionare cant think of even 1 new idea?

Weather my ideas are good or bad, they are still new ideas, & havent yet been explored...

Remastered Games, are just older Games ported to New Platforms, & you never know if they will hold up to the previous Editions before them...

Remakes, are only good if you can improve the formulas already released...

But you can only remake or remaster a game so many times, before people start looking else where...

Nostalgia or not, over doing it, will burn out its Notalgia flame eventually...

The New stuff is crap, but most of that is because of the Developers fault... If they put more effort into them, id be more interested in buying them... I dont need release dates to be every 3 months, if they can give me 1 decent Game, id be willing to wait longer to buy it...

Id rather buy 2 Decent Games a Year, then to pass on buying 5 Crap Games a Year, that could have had great potential to them, but didnt suceed due to problems, like constant crashing, & such... No?

----------------------------

This is not an Argument, its just my View on the subject...
