Peter Jackson's King Kong - A good addition to the Steam Library?
A 2005 FPS action game for those of us who remember it. I love that Steam has rolled up their sleeves and brought in old games with nostalgic value for us 90's kids on here. Now, would Peter Jacksons's King Kong, The Video Game [en.wikipedia.org] do good on Steam? I think it would. Good reviews and won their fair share of awards. Not bad for a movie adapted game.

And it's a Ubisoft game. Not impossible to integrate into the great Steam directory.

This section is for suggesting new features and improvements to the Steam client software.

Besides, it’s been on Steam already.

Poke Ubisoft about the game and see if they can put it on Steam. It's not up to Valve to look for games.

Talk to the publisher/IP-holder. They're the ones who decide whether they sell their games through Steam.

Valve does not contact other companies to sell games on Steam.

Since the game is a movie tie in, Ubisoft would very probably need to renew their rights to the license. I doubt the amount of income they do expect from re-publishing the game would even cover the cost to do so.

Thanks for the link @ZacharyIscariot

I'll be sending it to all my King Kong-loving friends. Maybe spam will help us make those frenchmen submit the game on Steam. Let's hope a product that's already produced and published under a license doesen't need to be renewed if it is to be sold again on a different platform.

There is no reason to hope. A licence works for a limited time, after which it needs to be renewed. That is the reason the Spiderman, Transformer, Deadpool and 007 games are no longer sold an Steam or any other platform.

If you can get it, add it, especially if you've got a bond with it. This way you can make sure you can at least not worry later if they're not available, you still will own a copy.

This happened with a game that got removed from Steam, Wolfenstein 2009.

Yeah I remember The Amazing Spiderman 2 was on Steam. Don't think they bothered with a licence renewal and now the game is worth 500$ online. Insane. How come they sell old Indiana Jones games on Steam? They can't have made a lot of money on those, and surely they need a license for that as well.

The Indiana Jones Adventure games are LucasArts games. The whole company belongs to Disney now, so it is sort of an in-house-license. The Lego games seem to be under some sort of special Deal, but I do not know any details about that Lego licensing.

Indiana Jones games are made by the license holder.

Haha, I see. Then I'll just have to wait patiently for Disney to buy Universal Pictures. Then supporters of this game could start reaping havoc on the forums.

It would be Universal needing to buy UbiSoft or vice versa. Depending on the rights to King Kong right now, Legendary Pictures / Warner Brothers might be involved as well. Trying to find a physical copy of the game might be a better choice :winter2019sadbulb:

I'm not interested in King Kong and games based on films have a reputation for being ♥♥♥♥ so I never played this.

Thanks for the sad lightbulb. It reflects my emotions.

I see the problem. I'll lay low and hope that somone in the loop of the commercial hell that is gamepublishing has the same dream that I have.
