Something very positive that we do in that forum, and that makes it worth having in addition to what the good Spawn said, is helping other users with the VAC authentication error when they post asking for help troubleshooting it. See this, please.

We're like the most accesible "figure of authority" (air quotes) people find on Steam. It's kind of natural when people have issues and feel like they're not getting help they try to reach to the closest 'authority' they can find.

Back on the old forums you could have some discussion about VAC or anticheat related subjects. They no longer happen on the VAC subforum, seem to have moved organically to either the relevant games or the suggestions forums. Still those people who have been banned need a place to ask (or to forge an alibi).

I've always strongly disliked the people who go to these threads to point and laugh at the banned players. That's never constructive and it's a part of why many threads get locked.

I know the feeling.

We get people demanding we remove their VAC ban, cool down, trade ban, ect. all the time...we have no control over any of that though.

Yeah the vac discussion is full of the people who want the Removal of vac bans. Even I know discussion rules like a moderator they ;on the other hand, don't know the rules about vac bans and discussions.

One of the hardest things to do in the forums, is get others to accept the correct information, where they instead do what you said here. I agree.

Using your example here, people just often flame and insult and point fingers and call "get rekt, cheater" at those that have banned accounts.

Where I am going with this here is, I wish we in the community could do better as a whole (not talking about you moderators here) in passing on the correct information instead. And concerning the VAC forum, that is this......

There are ways for an account to earn a VAC ban where the rightful user of that account did not cheat at all and the ban is totally justified. I will stop there as I don't want to seem to derail this about a VAC topic, but wanted to agree with what you said here, so I hope that will be ok.
