Help me remember a game please, OLD PS1 Style 3D Hack n Slash
Platform(s): PC

Name(?): Strain (?) (See Details)

Genre: Hack n' Slash, Action/Adventure

Estimated year of release: somewhere between 2000 ~ 2006 (the magazine which i got it from, no clue about the game itself)

Graphics/art style: PS1 Style polygonal 3d graphics, dark atmosphere, medieval themes (character anatomy/modeling style reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, big feet but more triangular ofc cuz of limitations)

Notable characters: Main character is a white haired guy with no shirt, and 2 swords, he battles zombies and ghosts

Notable gameplay mechanics: 3rd person action game, a button for each sword, holding down the atack button charges a bar below your health for each sword producing different attacks depending on how much you held it (eg: 1 attack for 0~10% / 10% ~ 50% / 50% ~ 99% / 100% held then released)

Other details: So I'll use this section to throughly describe the reason why I'm searching this game and the details of how the game was, It can get lengthy, I want to search this because of nostalgia ofc, it was a game that came in a brazilian magazine titled "Click 404 Jogos" (Click 404 Games), I do remember the name of the game, and have photo proof that i remember it correctly: Please note the 5th Image with the name of the game and a small screenshot https://imgur.com/a/cStQIoU translated description is:

"A incredible adventure full of magic and terror, in which a powerful warrior has to face zombies and dark beings in a gloomy medieval city full of surprises"

But, I'm starting the question if the magazine put the correct name in it, it is called "Strain" on the magazine, I've already searched the internet throughly for it, even tried dead sites through wayback machine, still nothing comes up EVER about this game, thats why I'm questioning if the real name is Strain which leads to 4 paths: 1 - The name of the game is indeed Strain and it is on the Internet 2 - The name of the game is indeed Strain and it isn't in the Internet anywhere 3 - The name of the game is not Strain and it is on the Internet 4 - The name of the game is not Strain and it isn't in the Internet anywhere

It goes without saying that i don't want case 2 or 4 to come out true.

So I'll now describe more from the game

You are this character with no shirt, white semi-long hair with his hair backwards (kinda like Vergil but longer), he has red "ninja pants", those big ones, and 2 swords, the game had some tanky controls, It started with a cutscene with the main character walking through what appears to be a battlefield, with downed warrios then grabbing a warrior by his neck and talking some stuff, then dropping him on the ground and proceeding for the city of the 1st stage afterwards, You could collect items that could be viewed im a menu similar to old Tomb Raider games (Items arranged in a 3d ring to cycle between them), you could equip swords in different hands that resulted in different attacks, there was also a Training mode that could be accessed through the main menu, which had a dummy Zombie with infinite HP, on a light blue circular arena. That's it, if someone knows about it please don't let me lose this game forever.

Nightmare creatures 1 or 2?

You could try and hunt down the discs. Maybe someone backed them on Archive.org.

I do have two of the discs by the same company but they're not that specific disc

I've tried every ISO of the discs i could find on the internet including from archive.org, sadly none of them had the game.

Not both'em sadly, it's a PC game, i say ps1 style cuz of graphics, but for all i know it could have a psx release maybe, find it highly unlikely though

Damn. Deleted my post.

I read the wall, carefully this time, and it's not Blood Omen. Though it seems like it.

Searched through them, the main char could resemble Blood Omen 2 main char, but not the same in the end, thanks for the reply though

The game may have never been released.

This post is quite old so its kinda strange to see some answers, but the game name is indeed "Strain" its by a company named Tomoshibi, and it has been only made available through CDs that came in a japanese magazine called Tech Win sold between January and July of 2000, the real quest now is obtaining the game at all if it isn't a real lost media by this point. It's the only game of this company that released this way, all the other games are available in their site =V (although some have dead links).
Still thanks for the replies =V

Ah if it's a magazine distribution that's going to be a sod to track down because as you rightly say, it may be the only way this game was distributed.

If you really get stuck you can always try talking to the magazine (if they're still around) or the editor of the time and ask them what the procedure was for getting such games in the magazine.

Sometimes they're "dead" games or games that they got cheap bulk deals on to distribute whose sales has stangnated. That might give you the best avenue to go forward.
