Who's still gaming on Windows 7?
Haha! :D

I'm actually using modern hardware with Windows 7 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

I'm on a 9900K 4.8ghz, Asus Maximus X Hero, 16gbs of Trydent Z 3200mhz CL14 RAM, MSI Gaming X 1080ti, 970 Pro nvme 512gb (for the OS), a 1TB 970 evo plus (for steam games) and a 6 year old 1T WD Black 7200rpm mechanical drive (cuz why not?).

I'm using a Noctua NH-U12A to cool the 9900K.

So far at least for MY needs I don't need Windows 10 at all.

I play modern games, such as Rise of the tomb raider, Shadow of the tomb raider, Honey Select (a hentai game with great graphics specially if you mod it) Resident Evil 2 remake, and Dead Or Alive 6 and of course Skyrim with tons of mods <3

I also play older games from early 2000's.

Overall all of my games run perfectly at a buttery smooth 60fps max settings locked. I don't have to deal with any spying BS or all the bloatware that Windows 10 has built into it.

Windows 7 feels like a classic windows experience. It's straight forward and as the user I have full control of the OS.

It's 10 years old but still works perfectly for the games that I play.

I made this topic because as we all know Windows 7 will lose support in about 2 weeks. So i'm just curious as to see who else is rocking Windows 7 like I am.

I used to be one of those die-hard Windows 7 forever guys, but that was around the time when there was this strange bug with Windows 10 that made it so it would only use 4gb of VRAM in dx9 games. This was especially evident in games like Skyrim, where you could easily surpass 4GB of VRAM with a ton of textures or higher resolution.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ultimateskyrim/comments/6z5yqs/4gb_vram_limit_to_be_lifted_on_october_17th_with/

But Microsoft addressed that issue in the Fall Creators Update, and since then I haven't looked back. Strangely enough, I actually have less issues with older games on Windows 10, than I do with older games on Windows 7. Stuff like Star Wars Dark Forces 2 or Tie Fighter were a pain in the ass to get working on Windows 7, but seemingly work right out of the box on Windows 10.
*raises hand*
and here are my other computer specs:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz
16 GB DDR3 RAM
1920 x 1080, 60Hz

I'm thinking about trying out a linux OS too.
I'm still using PC's with windows 98. Does that count?

"buttery smooth"?
What have you been smoking? I feel embarrassed just by having to respond to it. :steammocking:

Why not? Is it not buttery smooth or something?
I had my windows experience, and it was anything but buttery smooth.

I dual Booted Win7 with Ubuntu for like a year, I really liked Ubuntu until it broke so hard that I fixed only half of the issues before going back to procrastinating on Win7.
Time to finish the job now I guess.
Windows 7 here. Only regret is I can't play sunset overdrive or the new Forza game.
never stop friend. me any my epichacker420 friends can't wait till windows drops complete support so we can hack into your skype and video call your sister. she hasn't been responding to my messages since 2016. been practecing my angles. ;)

kidding aside.
you do you. but please update if support completely drops... we have enough botnet drones already.

but i assume you know your stuff better than i do. ;) (which is not that hard)
Am I and I don't plan on upgrading until the very end since win 10 is garbage, hope a new OS will come out and the track record MS comes out with OSS it should be good.

The very end is at hand. It's time for you to move to Linux or upgrade to Windows 10.
Not yet. It will still be good for a few years. Just because there is no "support or updates" doesn't mean it is obsolete.

It's not the very end until the Windows 7 disk breaks, and my backups all get wiped, and Microsoft eradicates all other copies on Earth (I'm sure they'd love to, those evil bastards)
