The Outer Worlds vs. Starfield

This is too funny, the two best RPG game publishers are releasing space RPGs within the next 3 years. While Obsidian's: The Outer Worlds is first and Bethesda's: Starfield is sometime after, I still think there is going to be competition. What do y'all think about this?

I'm confident that The Outer Worlds will be good, but I can't say for certain that that's the case scenario for Starfield. Bethesda still has 2 games, Starfield included, planned for development, so maybe by then they'll clean up their act. But then again, this is the gaming industry we're talking about. Everybody sing along!

Don't have much faith in Starfield after fo4. I'd like to be proved wrong though. The Outer Worlds looks pretty great to me so i'm excited about its potential.

What are the odds the game is gonna blow? Obsidian already made Fallout New Vegas, and that was with much more limited time and resources. Now they have a much more of both.
That being said, confidence ≠ ignorance. Sure, Obsidian had some rocky games in the past (or so I've heard), but this is familiar territory for them.

pre-ordering is a horrible business practice and a dumb consumer decision so I definitely won’t. However I do believe the TOW will be a great game that I will play for years like I did all of Bethesda’s games and Fallout New Vegas

I WAS hyped for starfield but then Bethesda started to go all in with their own launcher and abandon steam. Now I'm not so hyped, I don't want to install another launcher. At the same time, while I absolutely have no doubt Obsidian's Outer Worlds will be great, they recently got bought up by Microsoft, which makes me think it might be a Windows Store exclusive / XBONE exclusive.

Starfield is going to be using the same dilapidated, outdated engine that FO76 uses.

Speed tied to FPS, glitches that will persist from years ago, the whole kit and kaboodle.

I think I'll play and likely enjoy both. Long as I have fun with them, I don't really care which is "better" long before release.

Starfield doesn't seem promising considering Bethesdas current status, however it does give me the impression that the base game will be something I like (space exploration).

Outer Worlds feels like it exists for Fallout New Vegas fans who claim to love Obsidian, but most likely didn't buy their previous games. It does look okay though.
