As if your you put the PC to sleep it will disconnect from the internet so you will also not be AFKing
And no, you computer won't overheat. Computers have self-regulating cooling systems to prevent that. The system allows the CPU and GPU cores to heat up to their ideal operating temps(Around 70 celsius) and then ramps up cooling until the temperature is stable at that point. It'll then hold at optimal under the CPU or GPU load drops off, and then let the part cool back to idle temp(Usually 35-40 celsius)
For example, my GTX1080 will allow itself to heat up freely until it reaches it's ideal running temp of 72 degrees. Then it'll lock itself to that temp until the GPU load decreases, allowing it to cool off.
And god knows how many people forced to play without a useful team mate.
and yes over time if your cooling system is not the best it could overheat.
its also a waste of electricity since afking is pointless and cases are dirt cheap and cost less than the electric you would use to afk for them.
putting the pc to sleep also will close the game because sleep mode is like shutting down the pc but leaving it slightly on in minimal mode such as a little bit of power is being fed to the motherboard and cpu, enough to boot the pc up fully with a keyboard press.
That would only be possible if the system was Thermally Unstable. Which is a fancy way of saying, the heatsink ain't big enough for the CPU. And if that was the case OP would've noticed by now, an unstable build will overheat and cause a ruckus very quickly. Usually within 10 minutes of booting up.
