Do you use Windows XP or Vista to run any old games?
Asking mostly because I know there are still games on Steam that were made before even Vista was released. Did you know that the disk of Half-Life actually came with a version of Steam?

Basically you won't even be able to launch your Steam library on a Windows XP or Windows Vista computer soon. It's official.

Good.
Lame, I still have XP just to run old games, since it's the best OS for that.

Not that I still use XP or Vista, but wouldn't steam run in offline mode though?
I assume it's an update that will make steam this way, wouldn't disconnecting the PC running XP/Vista from the internet enable you to play said old games?

Also as a side note, this makes me wonder how long they'll support windows 7 / 8.1.

Maybe to the point when Google Chrome drop support for them as well.

Just "upgrade" to Windows 10 and stop worrying about it.

Look at the stats, only 0.22% steam users use WinXp! So that make a lot of senses why they did this !

Yup, those less than 1% are going to become really salty soon. Reminds me how 32bit users got really salty because some software was made for 64bit only.

I completely understand. I just assumed that there would still be a way to get things to function. I'm sure that there's going to be some people bootlegging it on youtube or something.

i used to have a second computer that ran offline with xp to keep the hackers out of the outdated software, that was expressly used for older games.

since my monitor went up a while ago, my second computer has been without a monitor since and as a result i dismantled those components.

Some games aren't even compatible with Windows 7 or later :/

Good move, Valve. Every day you suck a little harder.

All but one or two of mine work just fine. Those same had two stopped working on Vista already, so not loss really.

Of the handful that don't work out of the box, I only had to do some minor tweaking to get working right, mostly consisting of compatibility mode.
