Taking it away from them would be enough, but destroying? Completely unneccessary.
Don't destroy your kid's self-identity. If they enjoy gaming as a hobby, don't destroy their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ console. Also high chance they'll repeat that behaviour when they grow up, since that's what kids do - they'll think it's okay. Don't teach them that.
I'm not sure if you meant to use that word...but if someone's "self-identity" requires an electronic device, then they need to take a break from that electronic device.
Whats up with children destroying their parents electronics?
My parents used to take the power pack for my game systems or password the computer so only they can allow access to it.
A friend of mine was forced to sell his in a garage sale, with the money going to his collage fund, as his grades dropped since getting it.
Keep in mind this was over 20+ years ago.
Destroying it only teaches bad habits and poor anger management.
Not something I would do with my 8/yo's things.
Most likely.
Just like the "prank" where the lady throws the guy's PS4 into the pool because she got him a new one.
If a kid really loves to draw and it's something they do a lot (to the point of obsession in this case), you wouldn't destroy their art material (art material is really expensive as well).
Destroying is bad on it's own, doing it in order to ''teach'' is worse.
Also the typical parent paid for the device. They can do what they want with it. I applaud the angry adult who must take extremes to snap a spoiled and otherwise vile child to reality. Inb4 forget your details.
It should be a reward for a hard days class activity, an accomishment or destresser. Most kids can't remove themselves from the monitor or television and feel so deserving and expectant about digital stimuli.
Besides, what are you going to do about it if you didn't?
(I never ever watch those vids, tbh. They serve no purpose, because they´re none of my business.)
