That's what I think is holding pc gaming back, while steam has a lot of users there might still be some that have yet to commit or even get into steam and pc gaming because of the fact digital sales are un-refundable, this can give us that system that some console users with physical copies to enjoy, being able to sell their unplayed games
Also if this does work consoles might be pushed into adding a similar system for digital purchases in order not to lose console players; The fact is, that for too long a time there have been no refunds in the digital world aside from Amazon and the like, but this could help expand digital gaming as a whole.

Nothing to do with Steam.
http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/
The whole used game market brought us such fancy things as online passes and greatly accelerated the whole secondary monitezation. And stuff like always-online DRM. Or all the love that Valve got for requiring an online activation for a single player game when internet wasn't that common. Or limited activation.
The reason Steam isn't that intrusive of a DRM is because games are account bound.
There was a time before these refunds, There are some people stuck with games that they could not have refunded before because this system was not implemented at the time.
In addition to the fact that they can only be refunded before 2 weeks or hours, after that time, you're stuck with the game. This makes it a risk free enviornment, an example of this would be that a game has a strong 2 hr opening but poor follow up for them, or that someone had purchased a game but could not play it for 2 weeks and when he/she was able to they found that it was not good to the idea they had about it and could not refund it, I would've added "Early Access" in the mix but that should be obvious enough that it dident need one.
Unlikely. As said. there's no benefit for them. What's the point of gaining players if you lose sales? Well unless you're going to make up the difference with MTX and lootcrates.
The thing is, I'm not asking for a full refund here, and thats what "Robot Cache" offers. I know I'm not going to get 60$ back if I trade in a game but I would still be glad to get 25$-15$ from selling it back to invest into another game that I wanted and that I would possibly still play. They did say that 75% of resale goes back to developers, and Im fine with that.
And yes, I know I typed byte.
Thats fine, I was unsure of where to post it, Just thought that this could affect steam in some way so I thought it should be put there.
Nope. Valve has their own thing going for them.
