Windows XP is the best OS?
Most tech still running on it to this day. Even modern tech is made specifically to the Windows XP. It's still quite popular OS in many countries as well. Not to mention a lot of people are still making new updates to it despite it being abandoned by Microsoft and "no longer supported" by them.

But I'd say Windows 7 is good too.

We all know Linux is the best operating system, it's gonna put Microsoft out of business. I predict by 2022 most major companies are going to be running Linux. Linux is going to become the new industry standard and Windows will be obsolete. Microsoft will file for bankruptcy.

I don't think major companies will use Linux at all, purely down to the fact that it's free, open-sourced and can be reverse engineered, along with no reason for companies to switch from Microsoft to Linux at all and about 28% of all servers available are linux based

everytime you close edge and look at performance monitor for network you can see all the,ad sites its communicating with as it sends out telemetry.

Edge doesn't have a significant browser market share anyway. The vast majority of people use Chrome, and Chrome has quite a bit of "mystery meat" network activity. If you worry about privacy, Chrome is not what you want to use (neither is Firefox). I don't think it's a big deal, personally. Google provides major services free of charge and the money has to come from somewhere. Embrace the transparency.

Linux will probably never become widespread outside of servers. It's too fragmented and too open, and end user adaption has never been great. It briefly spiked during the Vista era when Ubuntu had a chance to make a dent, but that fizzled out. Even IT people (programmers, designers), outside of C# and game development, prefer MacOS to Linux, because you get the same base and many of the same tools, in a streamlined, standardized out-of-the-box system. Most people, both professional and end customers, don't want to be system administrators and spend the time needed to learn and maintain a Linux system.

I don't miss having to go into the Device manager and update various stuff in it just to be able to move around opened windows smoothly. I don't miss having to update a lot of drivers this way.

I don't miss all of the blue screen of death. I don't miss the 4 GB RAM limit. I don't miss all of the security flaws that are not being fixed.

With Windows 10 I can still run plenty of old games that I care about. I don't have to update things in the Device manager. I basically just need to install my graphics driver and I'm done.
I haven't had Win10 crash on me all that much. It's like 3 or 4 times at most since I opted into the free version upgrade from Win8.1.

Windows XP is not long on the Steam chart for hardware survey.
https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Win10 64Bit edition is the most popular right now.
The only old game that I wanted to play but couldn't get to run on Windows 10 was this https://store.steampowered.com/app/389900/Hogs_of_War/ and I didn't even check on it's store page to see that it clearly stated it doesn't run on 10, 8 or a Mac lol

So at least Windows 7 has this exclusive

and then there are the other types of IT people out there, who have to build/maintain the Linux based systems nobody else wants to touch, as found in 70% of global network infrastructure and random things like McDonalds order screens and submarines; which is really great fun and i highly recommend it

relatedly, i saw a logging machine not too long ago that was running Windows XP

he's just a windows 10 fanboy, he doesn't know his os, and just from what he says, there is no point trying, he's too dumb to get it, he doesn't even know what code is running in the background, but i guess that's fanboys for ya:alwayschicken:
I know the advantages of 10 were worth the upgrade, there are also plenty of other people in this thread that do too

Tell me what is it I am too dumb to get exactly? Rather than prove me wrong (you can't) all you have done is insult me or just state that Windows 7 is better over and over and with no proof (there is none)

A lot of people just do not like the anti-consumer practices put in place by windows 10 vs the user and consumer friendly features previous versions like xp and 7 had.

It seems pretty simple to me.
XP had the best installation music though.

Linux has always been the best! Two thirds of the worlds webservers, one third of mainframes and 100% of the worlds super computers use it. Android is based on Linux, which means 3/4 of all the world's smartphones and tablets use it. Plus a stack of IoT devices, TV and satellite decoders etc.
There's good reason for all of this! It's the best.

Linux is kind of based on Unix (Unix-like) which is also the basis for the MacOS and Playstation OSs.

But only 2% of desktops use it so people aren't aware of how great it is.

I've been using Windows from 3.1 to 10 (but never had Windows 7). If I had to choose one i'd say 10 worked best for me. Having said that, it was also the Windows OS that made me ditch Microsoft forever! I suppose XP probably is/was the best one.

Just send me proof that 7 is a better OS than 10 then, actual proof that 7 is a better OS though, not why some people don't use it, and I'll happily accept I was wrong

And good luck getting this on 7 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1309262606
