Too scared to play horror games

Yeah I'm not good at playing horror games, but I'm fine with horror films. I think the difference comes from having control over a character.

There's also no first person view in movies which plays a huge role in horror games

Like dead space or resident evil are not scary because they're in third person

sorry LOL one game to not play is soma on ps4 i had that game well own that game played it was very scary i got the shakes :( (NOT KIDDING) i hate horror games unless the horror game is dying light thats my level of horror a funny horror game lol

Most of the FEAR series, particularly the first one and its expansions, aren't really all that much horror games - they are regular FPS shooter games that have horror themed cut scenes. The exceptions tend to mostly be first person scenes where things seem to attack you but don't really (until about the second expansion when that gets inverted and you actually have to dodge/run away in a couple of cases).

Fear 2 and 3 integrate the two aspects a bit more closely as I remember (it's been a few years since I played any of them).

The only horror game I've ever played and enjoyed was probably SCP Containment Breach, and SCP Secret Laboratory here on Steam. At least in Secret Laboratory you're in a multiplayer game and aren't alone so the actual horror is lessened IMO.

I could never work up the courage to play and finish games like Slender, Resident Evil, or Outlast.

I've been trying to work up the nerve to take a crack at Amnesia and Soma myself. Games like FEAR or Resident Evil don't really spook me much at all, largely because I'm armed to the teeth and can feasibly defend myself against anything.
