Is 'noob' an insult, yes or no.
2 things i found about 'noob'
"Noob" is short for "newbie", another slang term that comes from the word "new". A noob usually means a bad player in a game, or someone who does not know the rules of a community. Being a noob is usually not a good thing.

Noun. noob (plural noobs) (Internet slang, often pejorative) A newb or newbie; refers to the idea that someone is new to a game, concept, or idea; implying a lack of experience. Also, in some areas the word noob can mean someone is obsessed with things. Noobs are annoying, they never know the forum rules.

Now i kinda want to know, is this an insult yes or no.
Cause a lot of people are saying that noob is an insult but i think it's not.

What is your opinion?

It certainly functions as an insult.
Its a word commonly used by toddlers. Period.
Two distinct paths:

*Players are just trying to get a cheap reaction out of you; in this case, just pull out the shovel and start collecting salt.

*Players are actually concerned with how you play in a game, so much so that it bothers them; in that case, take their words to heart and start to git gud. :cozycrashfish:
My kids use it as an insult so i would have to say yes.

It's a word.

It's only an insult if you feel offended by it.

I think nowadays it is used perjoratively by some.
It used to simply mean "new" with an implication of inexperience or looking-for-group etc.

The way I understand it: A newb is someone new to a game, a noob is someone that merely sucks.
Only if you’re insulted by it.

Right now, someone said 'noob...' as in hes really bad.

If I were to buy a game right now & play it for the first time then I'd be a noob, if it's an old multiplayer game that has a small but dedicated fanbase then it'd be pretty obvious that I'm a noob, not really an insult

noob

Noob is not a shortened word for newbie.
NEWB is.
"Noob" was derived from that and only is meant for people who are bad at a game or anything for that matter.
If you let yourself get insulted by that word then sure it's an insult

Yes.

It's usually meant as an insult. Sometimes it's true, though.

It was purely an insult, until people started using it in place of "newb" or "newbie". Newb and newbie weren't insults, just descriptions of people who were new at something and learning it. A "noob" was a twit, an obnoxious person and pesky annoyance. But around five or seven years ago people began to use "noob" and "newbie" interchangeably, and now novices often call themselves "noob".
