Minecraft - no more downloads ever?
From some news sources I read, it said that we have until June 25th to download Minecraft. After June 25th, no more downloads ever if we delete game then re-download later.

Is that true? I though that ever if games later were pulled out, we can always re-download no matter what. If we have no ability to re-download, we lose our money.

It's Minecraft : Story Mode, one of TellTales' Games, and you'll still be able to download it if you purchased it. It's going to be unavailable for purchase from Steam, and everywhere else, as a result of TellTales' liquidation. Basically every TellTale Game will go out this way, sooner or later, as a result of licensing and TellTale not being able to renew said licenses, as a result of their liquidation.

Basically since TellTale is effectively shutting down, all their games will be unavailable to buy across all PC Storefronts, and Console Digital Storefronts as well.

I read last three posts. I feel much better! I guess I got "paranoid" and went overboard. I apologized for this. Just hate to lose any money if we cannot re-download in future, that's all. Thanks!

It's not paranoid, mate. It's a legitimate question.

Even if they hadn't gone into liquidation the games were going to go anyway after all while we have recently seen a big chuck of the more recent and well known ones go the Telltale backlog has been shrinking for quite a while. Not to mention how many other big companies that are still doing well have had to take down their games as well for the exact same reason.

Basically if it is a licensed game never expect it to always be around because sooner or later the timer will reach zero and it will go so grab them when you see a price you are happy with.

they can't remove it from Steam and prevent people from downloading it. period.

they can stop it from being sold but yeah people can still play it and should be able to install it still.

Other games have been de-listed on Steam before as well. So far, de-listed just means the games will not be available for purchase and I do not see that changing. It is more likely that you will still be able to download the games (at least through Steam) if you already purchased them and then there are likely keys for the game still floating around and able to be activated.

In this case, I suggest contacting Mojang/Minecraft and asking them to look into what they said and add any clarification, since precedent has already been set on such matters. They may just be confused on what de-listed means themselves as well.

It also wouldn't make sense to only be able to still download it on GOG and not other services. Honestly, the statement they made, makes little sense.
