need help looking for a motherboard for my gf's laptop

MSI GL62 6QF is her laptop model and she needs an i7, I've been searching for hours but I need help.

throw it in the trash and just buy a new laptop.


I would offer tech support, but the correct answer is pitch it in a bin and get a proper pc, over the tech skill needed to replace a MD and rewire a laptop.

Replacing the motherboard in a laptop would cost almost as much as a new laptop. I agree with replacing it.

Laptops are not intended to have parts swapped, as a PC is.

I tried to tell her this when I was helping her shop for one, she insisted on a laptop. Something tells me if she listened this problem would have been solved in less than a minute.

Laptops have CPUs soldered into motherboards, there is no replacing the CPU with them, what you bought you will have to live with.
Basicly all you can do with laptop is add more RAM if there is free slot and SSD.

that would explain why its so hard to find the replacement. she's convinced the hard drive sparked.

You are quite correct.

Laptop guts can get reworked, but it takes a HELL of a lot of cash and tech skill.

Max out the ram, if you and swap the dvd for a vid card, do so, and then let her wallo in the old school. Laptops need to be bought as top of the line, and used for the 6 years they get as such. Upgrades ome from big boxes and nerd behavior.
