Good question. Maybe. I dunno.
Maybe it's just harder to catch a slippery, long ... hard.... fish, rather than running after a chicken.

Sad but true:(
In general there is a larger stock of chicken then fish, or atleast were i live.
Larger supply means a lower price, a lower supply means a higher price.

Fresh poultry is always expensive, I believe fish goes off faster than other meats too so it forces them to be as fresh as possible.

You're telling me I've been eating grandmother chickens this all time?

Chicken are far more easily mass farmed in a closed area. Methods for doing so with fish are improving, there's a big project up in Scotland, but a large amount are still caught wild in their habitat.

The mating factor is very complicated depending on the fish.

It's not really, just take into consideration the size factor. A chicken would have more meat on each, with less labour to clean and debone, etc.

Fish is harder to manage I guess. Fresh seafood is amazing.
You can buy cheap(frozen) polluck or talapia fish for around 2 dollars a pound at business costco(If you live in america), it has a similar price to chicken. Its not the tastiest fish( Bland) but it is a nice break in the usual chicken, beef, pork cycle.

(I should mention i live in the seattle area near the puget sound coast so it may be cheaper here).

Industrialized fishing has won the battle between man and fish.
