lol "Sleeping Dogs" has really bad driving mechanic and "GTA" isn't much better.
Teacher set up Midtown Madness 2 on the LAN and let us go at it.
You actually had to obey the speed limit and stop at stop lights, IIRC.
I want an open-world driving game with that. And also fuel usage, making gas stations something other than pointless landmarks.
In the late 1970s I read an article in BYTE Magazine, predicting that driving game.
So far, it hasn't happened. Boring? Maybe. But MS Flight Sim is a thing. Why not an accurate driving sim? 1:1 maps using satellite data and AI-gen buildings and landscapes, letting you drive from your house to my house, and every little dirt road in between. Cars that run out of gas. Cops that pull you over when you act a fool.
Closest thing we have to a real driving simulator is American (and European) Truck Simulator, and those don't even come *close* to 1:1 maps.

Now, let me tell you why Super Mario Golfcart Simulator is better than Grand Theft Auto V. First of all, who needs stealing cars and causing chaos when you can peacefully cruise around in a golf cart with Mario and his pals? It's all about that chill vibe, my friend. Plus, Mario has way better fashion sense than any of those GTA characters. Those over-the-top Hawaiian shirts? Classic.
And let's not forget the power-ups! In Super Mario Golfcart Simulator, you can snag mushrooms, stars, and all sorts of crazy items to give you that extra edge on the green. I mean, who needs guns and explosions when you can have a good old-fashioned mushroom-induced growth spurt? It's like playing golf on steroids, but in a totally legal way.
Lastly, Super Mario Golfcart Simulator brings the whole family together. It's a game that's suitable for all ages, so you can bond with your grandma, your little cousin, and even your pet goldfish while you play. Grand Theft Auto V might have its thrills, but nothing beats the joy of teeing off with Mario and his crew. So, there you have it, my friend. Super Mario Golfcart Simulator takes the crown! Now, who's ready for a round of Toadstool Tee-Off?

Still playing Mafia 2 with self made steering wheel system with arduino. I couldn't find anything better than free driving with "Friends For Life " mod of Mafia 2. You can change it to winter 1945 or summer 1950.
I don't want to race, I just want to just drive around and listen music, podcasts. Also old cars.
I tried other mafia games(1-3) didn't bode well in the matter of fluid driving or having a free ride mode.
Beam ng has no living environment, too detailed car mechanics for my taste, lack of atmosphere.
Forza, Asetta etc. race sims are also the same with lack of atmosphere.
Truck sims don't have any flexibility. Do your mission type. Still not for my taste.
If you discover anything like Mafia 2 as I write above, please let me know.
