I think it was down to the fact it wasn't a serious tone anime.
The only exception is Space Dandy, which is the only anime to be cast in English before Japanese.
You need to watch that show.
It's amazing.
I'm from Indonesia, but the subs there sometime are horrible so I decided to watch Anime with English subs.
Dub just make things weirder for me
For example, JoJo's sub and dub are equally awesome.
Cowboy Bebop and original Berserk should be dub.
Shonen animes like One Piece, Bleach and similar should remain sub.
EDIT: You know, it would be awesome if they could go full Tekken on animes, meaning that every character is talking his/her own language, yet they fully understand others.
