Who has a 32 bit computer anymore?
I'm really curious, practically every new computer out now is a 64 bit, and I've wondered for quite some time why 32 bit software is still supported. There can't be that many copies of windows 95 out there anymore.

I'm using one now.

And not everyone are able to afford new and expensive computers, y'know.
More than you would think, especially in developing countries. Not every piece of software needs to be in 64 bit anyway.
Depends on what you're after. If you bought a computer from one of the major manufacturers after 2003-2006, you probably have a 64-bit CPU. Whether or not you're running a 64-bit OS is a different question, though, as there are likely many people who have a CPU capable of running a 64-bit OS, but are still only using a 32-bit build. Especially if they didn't build the computer themselves and it was loaded with XP, Vista, or 7 by their builder and haven't done any tweaking themselves.
Unless your software uses or needs more than 4gb of ram, then there's no good reason to make it 64 bit instead of 32 bit
32-bit is being phased out. This is a natural outcome of memory becoming cheaper, if anything.

Arch Linux has deprecated the i686 architecture, leaving x86-64 as the only supported one.

XP and 7 come in 32-bit so not sure what 95 has to do with your analogy.
I have 64 bit but I still have my old 32 bit laptop for when I need to go somewhere where it might become a little dirty
Well, i think i can rationalize with it looking at my New $1000 PC an not just graphics drivers but tons of apps. an drivers say 32 bit.
I don't think anyone actually tries to make anything 32-bit compatible, but if it ends up able to run on a 32-bit machine, they will include compatibility.
I can't remember how long it's been but all my computers run 64 bit.
I know professionals sometimes deliberately get computers tuned to certain demands, such as having Windows XP and 32-bit to suit the demands of the softwere they work with or on.

Isn't that why Windows 7 has XP mode?
I still have an 8 bit computer. I don't use it, but I have it...
