7950 is a pretty good card, actually one of the top 5 of AMD if i'm not mistaken. About the brand (xfx) I honestly can't tell, sorry.

I've had some XFX products. They make good, quality products. My last video card from them is still running good.

Keep in mind with an ATI card, PhysX does not support them. You will need a very good processor if you want PhysX on high.

XFX Black Edition are most coolest and great overclock. I have XFX 7770 Black Edition and I'm able to overclocked up to 1200 MHz until my three raid PSU have fail and lost power to video card. Myself I would take my time to decide between Geforce and ATI if I were you. It depent if you want to use video card for gaming or design. My 9600 GT work with AutoCAD better than 7770, weird. I'm current doing gaming and design with XFX 7770, not so great for AutoCAD as my old 9600 GT.

PhysX are not support on ATI or/and CPU without a Geforce. Plus PhysX will make CPU useless for gaming if you have Geforce installed.

7950 is a great card but lacks many of the features (at a similar price point) a gtx 660ti or 670 have. Though I don't have one myself I've read some very good revews on XFX cards.

I've always had XFX cards, they are great. I'm currently running their R7870 BE which is fantastic. The 7950 is pretty much the same as a GTX 670 so yes it is a good choice, definitely go for the DD or BE edition though as the core editions can get very hot with only a single fan.
