Overheating is somewhat of an issue, as laptops generally have poor cooling setups, and integrated units are usually worse. But a flat surface (as opposed to a lap) and a fan (skip the laptop cooling pads and get a real fan like you would use in an office to move air, those pads don't actually work) can make that part managable.
Neither of these is going to be an issue if you prefer 'lighter' games, such as Beat Hazard, Super Hexagon, Dynamite Jack, Nightsky, and suchlike, all of which stay rock solid at 60 fps for me with V-sync enabled.
As a final note, since you mention laptops, I will mention that laptop versions of graphics cards are inevitably inferior to desktop versions, since they have less space for the actual cores, less cooling, and usually cannot be upgraded.
Edit: ninja'd
So its technically the same thing.
And yet "card" sticks out like a sore thumb.
a modern dedicated gpu will be eons ahead in terms of fps and capabilities.
ok lets do a test you run skyrim and ill run skyrim with fraps at 1080p ultra, if it performs as well as the gtx 600's then surely my 690 will be similar to hd 4000 or hd 4200 or iris pro/whatever
the 3000 is close to the 4200/4250
