Replacement Headphone cushions, anyone use cloth?
https://wickedcushions.com/search?q=hyper%20cloud%20X&sort=ccSold3M%2Cdesc&pageIndex=1

My hyper cloud x II head phones are still working after 8+ years. Till i bought these i never had to worry as either the plastic adjuster would break or a earphone get knocked out. I spent lots of money on good headphones, and none lasted till i bought these. In fact they lastest so long i need new ear cushions which leads me to my question.

There are some with the vinyl and then others with cloth that looks a bit more breathable and others with some sorta cooling gel?

Anyone have any experience with any of these? I was just going to go for the basics, but for a couple extra bucks if they are more comfortable then what the heck, but honestly i dunno if it's just a gimmick or it really does make any sort of difference.

PS, if anyone is looking for headphones and has a larger head, these things are so comfortable, and they last, something I've never said about any headphones, and i tired all sorts of brands before these. The bulit in mic also works well, and they sounds great, and also noise dampen. The last part can be good and bad, if you need people to be able to get your attention with out tapping you on your shoulder you will be out of luck.

With either type of cushions, what will help over time is this...

> Try to keep your ears clean, yes the outside areas of your ears, they can often get dirty throughout the day even when not touching them, putting anything against them or laying down. You might even need to take a break from using headphones if using them for lengthy periods in order to do this. Something as simple as a personal wipe, or even alcohol cleaning wipe will do great for that. Then fan some air on them to dry them.

> As you put down your headphones for the day, or giving them a lengthy break, take the time to wipe them down as well. The head-bar, and the ear-cups. As they might get greasy or moist from your oils and sweat over time. Vinyl will not dry out if it gets greasy or oily, this also causes them to crack over time, however avoid using any alcohol products in vinyl as that can actually further damage them. Warm+Soapy water works best on vinyl. Cloth on the other hand, while it can be better, there is a danger that this can easily trap all sorts of germs.

Ear pads of various types and materials can be used to fine tune the sound signature of headphones. There is no one pad fits all solution it depends on the headphones and personal preference.

I use Velour earpads and hang them on a hanger that is secured under my desk. Give them a quick wipe after use. Much nicer feel then the leather/pleather types.

Stuff

The headphones are 8 years old at this point. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Cloud X's, but around the edge is a very thin pliable lip that slips into a groove it's the only thing that holds the foam on. Over time this stuff just stretches out and the ear pieces get loose and they just fall off from time to time when you take them off or set them down. It's like those metal drinking cups, after a while you just need a new O-ring, ya know?

I just never heard of cool gel, or used the fabric ones for this style, the vinyl was nice but i thought maybe there might be something better.
