Moving from Windows to Windows 11 is 'OK now for gaming?
I know Windows 10 support is ove rnext years,a lso sometimes worth moving to better OS. I just wonder is Win11 OK OS now? I play a lot of legacy games, so I'm interested in compatiblity or any issues which only occur with Win11. Or it's "safe" move to the next Windows?

I know, I can go back anytime to Win10.

Are you meaning windows 10 to windows 11? It works fine for me but if you are on 10 currently there isn’t much benefit to upgrade before EoL if you primarily play older games. One of the main advancements in windows 11 is the full dx12 with direct storage support which is only going to benefit some upcoming games

Windows currently has a Version (24H2) that is currently crashing, and sometimes hard crashing (freezing your PC). Games such as Assassin's Creed and Path of Exile 2 are experiencing this. MicroSoft acknowledges this is happening, but isn't releasing any emergency patch, they are just "aware of it".

even after EOL i'd still pick win 10 over 11

win 11 has so many ads and dumb UI changes. not to mention they lock off a ton of stuff in the registry, meaning you can't disable alot of useless (for most) features that just slow the OS down and use ram.

I've been using Win11 for two point five years, I don't have an issue with it related to gaming.

been running win 11 for quite awhile, you can remove or disable w/e you want on it.

i have zero ads and removed everything i didnt want, which inclues edge, bing, copilot and more.

you can as well bypass all requirements for installation if needed.

fyi, in not running 24h2, yet.

What ads? the only thing to bother me was it wanted to use the windows back up and one drive.

ads and news in the windows search and personalized ads in edge/bing due to microsoft account data collection.

anywho, its all quite easy to remove/disable, though with that said its an annoyance and hassle to do simply because microsoft like to force stuff on people.

You can use UUPDump to generate a .iso of 23H2 if you want to migrate to Windows 11 but want a relatively stable and compatible platform. Hopefully by the time 23H2 stops receiving updates 24H2 will have its issues ironed out.

Why not give linux a try instead

Whoa, lots of input and various experiences. What I want to know or hear about other peoples. I'm not really want to change, but I know next years official support will ends for Win10 and I rather not use old or outdated OS. Because... I did inthe past! I used Win98 till the end of 2005! I can't install games or major applications! Then I used XP till 2012 end(?), the reason move to 7 (and not anyway to Vista!) was BioShock: Infinite only used DX10 and I was a huge fan of the series. Also, that tiem I get my hands on to the Halo 2 hard copy (which was Vista Only!). And I swtiched to Win10 around 2017 last months. Mostly I felt I use outdated OS and maybe some games and stuff working bad or less smooth. Also Win10 was suprisingly good! Had basekit features so many things I was used another applications in Win7! So, it was an instalike!
I just wonder I'm gonna feel like this with Win11 or wait till Win10 supports ends. I know I still can use Win10 after that, but sometimes I just want to move with the tech, if I can't afford to hardwares at least I can afford with softwares/OSs.

I used Linux, long time, I know since that time got more support. But various reasons I would stick with Windows.

So far I do run 11 since it's beta builds in 2021, right now 24H2 and I have no issues at all but there is a large amount of reports of people that do experience problems with the newer build so if you are on 10. I would probably stick with the OS and consider upgrading when its like 3 months left to end of support

I personally run on the Canary branch. I've had some graphics issues since before 24H2 was branched off, but in the past 2 builds or so they seem to have gone away.

Win11 is dead to me. It's a exclusive club only. And the ads/spying is off the chart. Linux. Give Microsoft time they will make people switch to win11. My guess directx requirements. 12.2 that's what I believe. They did it before. Directx.

Guess I will wait for win12

10 already supports DX12_2 if you are on the latest builds of the OS (21H2 LTSC/consumer 22H2) alongside even DirectStorage support tho with a missing function

I don't expect a Windows 12 release in a while as Microsoft really makes a new branding once the system requirements have changed so we will probably see Win11 25H2, 26H2 and etc
Right now we are on the same spot as 10 1607 did

Didn't they say win 11 is now spying on everything you do? Or something like that. Ill pass on that. I disable most stuff in windows anyways and last time I used 11 I mest up my OS. So I had to reinstall and I went back to 10. And its been working good.
