Motherboard fried?!
Well, someone was playing with the internet's settings and I had to fix it back up (Restore basic info', drivers etc...) On my way to plug my modem to the Main PC Via ethernet, the ethernet cable shocked and PROBABLY fried my motherboard.

Now as silly as this sounds; I have tested each component on a different motherboard: CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD, Power supply and all is working perfectly.
I am a bit new to the PC Gaming world and this, of all things just comes as a shock for me.
WTF HAPPENED!?

If anyone could give me an answer? Or some advice on what to do? I'm just lost at the moment, I'm probably going to replace it.
And what recommended motherboards would you throw in that are compatible with my components, I just can not find one single "Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R" any where for sale.

Components I use:
- GeForce GTX 760
- Evo Veloce 2 x4GB
- Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R
- Cooler Master GX 750W

any p/h/q 55/57 board will work with the 1156 cpu

try ressetting bios on the board, and see if you can get it to work on minimums
cpu, heatsink, 1 dim in slot closest to the cpu, gpu, monitor, keyboard
Disconnect any power supply to the troubled motherboard and remove the BIOS/CMOS battery from the board and leave it out of the board for roughly 5 mins.

Re-install the battery, connect power supply and main power cable and try the bootup again.

If u need a new board here:
http://www.ebay.com/bhp/socket-1156-motherboard

And if u don't know off-hand, here's the Specs for your current board
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3438
if u'd like a board as similar to it as possible.

What happens when you try to power up the board at the moment? Are there any beeps at all?
Hey guys. Cheers for the info'. And no Warmed, the motherboard doesn't beep at all. It comes on and then powers off instantly. At the beginning of the issue; it would power on and then off, over and over again: now it just turns off once, and is off and I can't turn it back on until about 15 mins', or if I take the power supply out and hook it back up again. fact being now that I have purchased another board, cpu and case I should be set.

I'm doing that now as I type. If this were to boot up and I wasted 400 of my $$$, I shall be very upset.
Nope. Removed the battery for the BIOS for 5 mins', and nothing. I then later powered it back up, and I tried to cram the Motherboard's disk in the DVD Drive, whilst the drive was open, the motherboard DIDN'T POWER OFF! (OMG SOME HOPE) I switched the monitor on; but silly me... I forgot to hook up a GPU: so no screen, I had to refresh the GPU to the system, so I had to switch off the PC. Now it's back to it's original state of powering off, after 2 seconds.

I've been looking everywhere and apparently no one has had this particular problem. Aren't I just special in every way.

i think there is no way an ethernet cable can fry a motherboard.
maybe the mobo was 'grounded' and it only happened by coincidence when the ethernet cable touched it.

idk the quality of the coolermaster gx 750w you are using. based on a friend's experience, a 50$+ (in equivalent philippine peso) coolermaster psu blew out. luckily, intel dh55tc, i3-530, and other components luckily survived.

The fact I saw an electrical collision when I paired the ethernet cord to the jack, and saw smoke coming out of it.
I'm pretty sure I didn't ground the motherboard, because my rig is ferkin' Tip-Top. No actual metal short outs or electrical matter throughout the system. I'm just assuming the ethernet cord wasn't in good condition (32 Metre cord stuffed away for 5 years, being chewed up by pugs from time and time again). Anything could've happened.
The condition of my PSU on the other hand is only brand new, 4 weeks in the running to be exact, and works with my other motherboards and systems around the house.
