Stuck pixel already?
I got a new monitor yesterday (BenQ RL2455HM) and it worked well. Today, I do my usual routine (reply to youtube comments, check e-mail then reply to steam notifications.) But, when I was looking through Steam forums, I noticed a single pixel that was pure red. Is it a stuck/dead pixel? If so, any way to get rid of it? I'm running UDPixel right now, but it hasn't done anything for the 15 minutes it's been up. It happened a bit after I tweaked the monitor settings, by the way and I haven't tried changing them back to default yet...

nope, its a stuck sub pixel
either exchange or rma the monitor

pixel stressers or 'stuck pixel fixers' only cycle colors and will not fix anything

sometimes rubbing it with a little pressure will fix, but most are stuck for good

Really? Damn, well, do you know if they'll RMA it with only 2 stuck pixels?

Depending on what country you are in or where and how you got it, most places have a 30 day return window for most products, and a stuck pixel would be considered a defect from the factory.

depends on their dead pixel policy
some will rma if they are near the center

http://www.benq.com.au/support/information/warranty/#Pixel%20Policy
on a 24in monitor, they consider 3 stuck subpixels, or 5 dead pixels ok

if its new, try taking it back to the store for exchange

Screen fixer:

Make sure you pick a aspect ratio which covers your entire screen and use in full screen mode. It is important you don't leave an area static. Don't have any "turn off monitor" enabled on Windows and let it run for a while.

The continuous changing and moving of colours will help correct monitor pixel issues in some cases. Normally it take a few minutes to a hour.

Ive had a reoccuring stuck pixel for the last 5 or 6 years that Ive had this display. The apps or programs never do ♥♥♥♥. However rubbing my finger around the pixel always fixes it. Worth a try.
Thanks to all of you guys. I'm going to return it to Newegg, get the money put back on my credit card, and buy it again. The only reason I'm doing it that way is because I don't want a 'factory certified replacement' which is just talk for "We want to get rid of the most scratched one in the factory." They probably wouldn't accept it with only one stuck pixel near the center and one dead pixel off to the side on a 24" monitor anyway. I'll post back with a status update when the new one is hooked up. It'll be a couple weeks because of location, so don't expect anything immediate. In the mean time, I'll have to use a small monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and use it through a, *cries,* DVI to VGA adapter. *sobbing.*
Well, if the next one comes without any stuck pixels for the first two years or so, I'll be happy with it. For anyone wondering, if you get this monitor without any stuck pixels, I'd reccomend it. Not for the price, but if you can get it for 20 bucks off, I'd say it's worth it...

Same monitor as me or is it a different one? I wonder if this is a problem with BenQ monitors...

It can happen to any monitor. It's just unlucky.
Depending on your location try for an exchange.

Dell UltraSharps have a zero "hot" pixel policy, etc. Most premium monitor should have this!

As for others - It will depend on the monitor brand and their policy - to how many they let out the door... then it will come down to luck of the draw if you get one that does.

I didn't expect this from BenQ, they have some awesome monitors, normally very high quality - specially the XL gaming series.

Yeah, but Dell's costumer service is notoriously bad. Tons of people had to send their brand new Ultrasharps back for backlight bleed issues, and got refurbished units in return. That's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Update.
Hey guys, I just thought I'd let you guys know about this. I may not exchange due to credit card issues as well as the fact that I turned off my PC for a couple of hours to calm down after getting very annoyed that I got a bum unit, I boot the PC back up, and it's gone...
yup...
So my monitor was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with me. BUT, I know that it probably just went away and it'll always be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pixel...
Anyways, does anyone have any tips for avoiding it getting stuck red again? I kinda can get over a dead pixel, you know, because it's black, but having a frozen red pixel would kinda suck when in competitive CS:GO. Could it be that I didn't install the drivers? The only reason I didn't is because I don't have an optical rive and I couldn't find the drivers anywhere on their website...
I'm just thinking, maybe if that pixel avoids the color red or something, it may not get caught on it? I don't know. I'll only have the monitor for a year or so anyways if it comes back. I'll just buy a new one (NOT the same model.) I'll still get a BenQ monitor, because I think they're stil a nice monitor company, better than some other monitors for the price I'd been looking at. This monitor was kinda just suppose to do it's job for a year or so while I buy some new components for my PC, but I may need to speed up the saving for a monitor. I'll post back when the pixel dies again... >.>

Sometimes a blob of liquid or dirt on the screen can look like a pixel issue. So the first thing you should do if that happens is clean your screen and see if it is still there. I have not noticed any actual stuck or dead pixels on any monitor or HDTV at work or home since a Sony laptop I bought January 2000.
^^
It is. Plus it's bright red, I don't think there's that much bright red dirt... lol
