4K OLED monitors - 27" vs 32".
Which is better for a 4K OLED?

Personal preference.

Though, personally, I'd stick with 1440p at 27 inch, the extra clarity is not worth the performance hit on a small screen even with a 5090.

If you don't have a 4090 or 5090, id just not go to 4k.

So my vote is 32 inch.

4k for 40+in
1440p is a good res for 27-32in

i have calibration tools....the best for me was a 32inch 1440p IP monitor for about 230 bucks with shipping....

Only if you're blind
I have a 34inch 4k oled and to be honest its too big for me so upon the release of the next gen 4k oleds coming out I'm going to be grabbing a 27 inch.
I'd say it also depends how far you sit from the screen, at the distance I sit at about full arms length, 4k and 1440p are not worth the performance hit on a 27 inch screen, but these things are very personal and only the individual can say what is best for them.

Edit.
I mean in motion during general game play, looking at images 4k is fairly clearly superior.

A 27" 4k panel is very crisp, and you can probably fit two 27" panels on a desk. 32" would make text easier to read at 4k, especially in half-assed indie games that don't have any accessibility features. I can't really say I've ever had trouble with my 27" panel, though. 40" is more comfortable for reading text, but it's huge. The number of ppi at 40" is still reasonable, but it's not as crisp as a 27" panel.
32 inch imo is the way to go but if you got really sharp vision and can make proper use of the pixel density at 27 inch... go for it and save some money.

I've been mostly using my 32 inch for graphic design work since I got it haha.

bigger monitor means you can sit further from the monitor and put less strain on your eyes

I agree with this. I think OLED is more important than higher resolutions in cases like this. But the problem is then you have burn-in issues maybe.

Potential solution... multimonitor setup with a standard size monitor for non-gaming computer use + large format OLED display that you only use for gaming.

I agree with that.
That's why I'm a fan of big desks also known as executive desks, workstation desks, studio desks, etc. Even some tables can work as a desk. Or a small desk + a wall mount for the screen.
I'm sometimes surprised how people are ready to spend $3000+ on a high end PC + 4K OLED monitor but are willingly stuck on a baby desk that can barely fit a small screen.

32 inch is not a monitor it is a tv. You can not even fit that on a desk. Some years ago greedy people said to themselves hey lets stick a displayport on our tv and charge a premium to pc users.

Monitors stop at 24-27 inches if you turn your head or it is wall mounted that is not a monitor that is a tv with a displayport.

get a bigger desk ? 32 fits perfectly fine on a table even if you put pc on the side of a table.

Or, you just have a small children's desk?

While the line between TV and monitor is very much blurred these days, I don't think that is a problem in the slightest, it's down to if the display has the specs you want and covers your needs or not.

The idea that a monitor stops at X size is silly.
