Weird USB issue

I recently bought a Razer huntsman and cobra pro so i decided to grab the goliath chroma mouse pad to complete the look. I got this weird widnows error that said USB power surge plus the keyboard stop working in the 3.2 gen 1 port. I plugged them in to the gen 2 port. All my stuff is less then 6 months old i dont under. I also tried lowering the brightness of the keyboard and mouse pad so it doesnt pull so much. Any ideas im taped out

SInce i switched them to the 3.2 gen 2 ( red ones ) I havent had the issue. also I just moved in a new apartment and noticed the Outlet was loose in the wall so i switched my surge protector to another one . I also had a BSOD last week so im not sure whats going on

Hmm, maybe you better install correct drivers. Also in BIOS did you enable USB legacy supports? And did you pluged-in in front IO or backside of motherboard?

It could be your Windows Updates issue or Troubleshooting with drivers. Just enable all USB supports in BIOS and install correct drivers.
After that issue still there maybe something wrong with your gears, may I ask you? Did you bought all gears from trustworthy sites or stores? (ussually come with warranties)

all were plug in the usb3.2 gen 1 ports and they were in the back of the mobo. Also When this happen all 3 didnt work. Could my USB ports or motherboard be cooked ?

update bios and get the chipset, audio, usb, lan drivers from the mobo site, never windows update

Probably not cooked, but just that they all share the same controller. The controllers have their limit in bandwidth and voltage. They also have fault protection built in to help prevent you from destroying them.

One of those devices probably shorted out the controller (or tripped it) and the USB controller shut off. Since all the ports in use were on the controller, then it cut all of them off.

That is what is supposed to happen to protect the controller and whatever is connected to it. The problem is that it means there is an issue with one of those three devices, the port, or the controllers.

No idea how much power that mat uses, but since you didn't have the problem before using that mat it's probably what is tripping it. I also find it hard to believe a keyboard and mouse (most are low power) would cause an issue.

If the ports that turned off work without all three being used, then there is no issue and the problem is most likely with one of the connected devices and not the port itself.

If you have a USB flash drive you don't care about housing worthless data you can use it to find out if the port itself is shorting or the controller is bad (warning it may damage data)., If it's bad the device will connect and reconnect over and over, if not and it works without issue there should be no issue.

I was on Bios 2301 now im going to the latest 2801

I just thought of something. Could a Bad/faulty psu cause this ?

Did you try the Intel Driver Updater Tool?

could be just a software issue, try uninstall all on Universal USB controller or something, kinda forget exactly but when my keyboard acting funny i always does that

Yes, it is still unresolved because it apparently depends on the hardware (usb controller) chips being used and how they handle this
