Gaming Laptop?
I am just curious how many of gamers prefer a gaming laptop versus a desktop. If so, what laptop are you rocking? Thinking of getting a new one.

Yes, however my professional gaming times are over long time ago. That Laptop should had supported me on some random casual gameplay and should had acted as an "allrounder" for next 5~10 years.

If you are an active 'hardcore' gamer, I also suggest to go for a professional Desktop PC. In the end it is even cheaper, max 3000 EUR for example. PC, Hardware, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Headset or Headphones + Mic and stuff..

i mean you bought a gaming laptop which unlike desktop will last 3-5 years at best if you want great performance.

Of course, while PC Hardware can be upgraded and exchanged, Laptops cant in general, besides storage and RAM etc, though it can be boosted by overclocking still..

Personally for me, it is heavily ridiculous to pay thousands of EUR for a GPU. 500 EUR ok, but 1500 ?! Never ever ...

I prefer desktops mostly due to the aspect of upgradability and far more value for the money. but thermal performance also do play a role as with most laptops. you won't be able to sustain such high boost clocks.

But I'm also using a high end laptop (Aero 16 YES, i9 12900HK + 3080 Ti) when I have to be portable and so far. really happy with it.

if you have a good gaming desktop, you can stream to nearly any spec laptop
as long as you have a good enough upload speed at host, and download speed at client

I prefer a desktop, however I can imagine people using a laptop incase you don't have the room or cash for a large desktop set up.

For my international travel I am going to buy a medium powered gaming laptop, as I can imagine me playing a game once or twice when I am staying abroad for a long term.

Intel i5-12500h
16gb ram
RTX 3050 4gb

Entry level gaming laptop. Hell, it lacks the VRAM to run some of the most top of the line titles. But, I dont mind. I'm mostly a retro gamer and I hold little interest into AAA titles. So, this configuration should be fine for me.

I wouldn't recommend it to most people thought.

It depends if you want to drive long or not. I’m speaking of driving for 6+ hours one way when travelling

If you are in the US keep an eye on Bestbuy, I've purchased my last two laptops there and feel like they were both great deals.

Last year I picked up an Asus Strix G15 Advantage Edition - Ryzen 9 5980HX, Radeon 6800M. Retail is $1699 but I got it on sale for $1099 (it goes on sale all the time), its last gen now but still a great deal when it's on sale.

Just a couple of weeks ago I picked up the Asus Strix G18 - Intel 13980HX, RTX 4080. I'm a sucker for a sale, it was $2099. Even at regular price $2499 I think its a pretty good deal for a 18" 240hz laptop with that hardware.

I don't really game on either because I have a high end desktop but its nice to have the option if I'm traveling or whatever.

I guess if you want to game in the rest room. I usually just search on my phone.
