i was wondering if there is such thing as an external cpu for a laptop because i only have a i3 processor and would like to have an i5 without taking apart my laptop.

That would break the laws of Physics, namely Attenuation.

In a nutshell no there isn't.

Laptops really aren't designed to be upgraded that much so basically if you want a faster one then it'll be a in the bin job.

Also if your buying a new one then think about the future and its specs.

ie maybe look at a I7 one with a good graphics subsystem and 16GB of ram, though Ram you tend to be able to upgrade later, but the Graphics and CPU not so much.

And you can always use External HD's if you run out of disk space.

Unless you really need a portable computer, a custom desktop lasts a lot longer and can be upgraded a lot more, and is the best choice if your into gaming.
