Hooking up speakers to PS3 on the same monitor as PC.
Kind of an odd question I'm sure, hopefully I can explain it well.

So right now, I've got my PS3 and PC hooked up to the same monitor, PS3 is using the HDMI, PC the DVI. And it works great, but the problem is getting sound on the PS3. One speaker is plugged into a subwoofer, while the other is plugged into the computer itself with a 3.5mm plug.

I'd assumed all I would need to do is plug the speaker's jack into the PS3.

The problem is, there's nowhere on the PS3 to plug it into. So I'm not really sure where to go from here.

My monitor doesn't have any built-in speakers.
But if yours doesn't either, I'm not sure what my problem could be.
The ps3 should have an optical audio out which can be plugged into the optical audio in of your pc provided you have one. Leave the speakers hooked up to the pc. Only thing is, your pc will have to be on while you are on the ps3 in order to get sound.
I also have another PS3 hooked to another monitor through HDMI and use the AV multi to get sound to a home stero system

Most PCs do not have Optical Input; only Output. Unless you have a dedicated Sound Card that offers both.

You can use the Analog RCA from PS3 to get Audio; then use a "Female RCA to Male 3.5mm" audio cable adapter and plug the PS3's audio into the Line-In on your PC Rear Audio. Then un-mute the Line-In in Windows on that PC and the PS3 audio should come through the PC and output through the PC's connected Speakers or Headset; provided the PC stays on while using the PS3.

Hence thee "provided you have one"
Sorry for the late reply guys, thanks for your help.
Probably a stupid question, but how I would check to see if my PC has an Optical Input?
