91°C While gaming with Turbo enabled through "system mode" Acer Predator Triton 14
Sorry if this is a noobish question, but I just recently bought a new laptop (Acer Predator Triton 14) and i've had it for a few days. Its running all the games spectacularly and I don't seem to have any complaints about it, but I was curious to see what the temperature was while I was gaming and the temperatures were as follows.

CPU - 91°C
GPU - 68°C
System - 68°C

I was just wondering is that normal? I'm coming from an i-7 2200H with a 1050Ti graphics card so maybe the newer stuff runs a little hotter? The fan noise doesn't bother me so I have it set to automatic. (Just in case anyone was wondering)

Those temps don't seem unusual for a 14" laptop. There is only so much you can do cooling wise in the given space.

Laptops are always overheating, as long it doesn`t thermal throttle it should be fine.

Okay, thank the both of you. For a minute there I was about to ♥♥♥♥ myself XD

Intel's 13th and 14th Generations are power hungry and built for performance . . .

Anything above 92°C is critical and thermal throtteling applies to prevent harm on your CPU. Throtteling causes crashes and your work / gameplay crashes unsaved...

Make sure you use your laptop on flat and stable surfaces only.
NOT on beds, carpets, blankets, seats .. without a stable flat surface ..
a wooden plate for example + a stand for your laptop, someting like this.[m.media-amazon.com]

If your laptop doesnt receive fresh air and also isnt able to push out heat.. you damage your machine irreparable.

Free up your laptop from dust, for at least twice a year .. especially its fans .. carefully ..

Maybe re-apply thermal paste (Arctic MX-6)

Also, it is possible to underclock and/or undervolt your CPU, so it never reaches 90°C in first case .. Either Undervolt: - 0.05 V (-5mV) or Underclock from 5 GHz to 4.5 GHz .. or find something in between as -2mV and down to 4.8 GHz ... there can also be a simple feature to lower Watts during P0-state ..

I do use an i9-14900HX CPU. For some latest 3D-heavy games, if FPS or RTS, I have to use my adjusted underclock and undervolt profile with official tools and by the informational help of HWiNFO. So my CPU never reaches 90°C if in "P0-state" .. and even fans are 2 times quieter and dont reach one of their max curves ..

For older games, regular use / work / applications, I can simply keep my underclock & undervolt profile disabled .. and my CPU easily runs cool and quiet @ 5.8 GHz . . . even driving cars outside on the streets are fuqqing louder ..

As you dont own a "X"-processor, try to look around how you could UNLOCK and then to undervolt and/or to underclock your CPU with official tools .. something from Intel[www.intel.com] (XTU) and/or Acer (PREDATORSENSE) ..

Good Luck ..

Oh, and btw, do a complete full, fresh & clean Windows install .. so you wont have any of these corrupted, failing drivers installed, bloatware or other unwanted and "hidden" stuff which kills performance and efficiency .. already begins with Norton or McAfee and such blocking and root-kitting crap .. most pre-fab machines are delivered out with that ..

It's hot but still isn't exceeding the CPUs rated thermals. Just keep an eye on it and for your reference

I wanted to look up the TDP for the i-7 2200H, but I can find any info about it whatsoever.

EDIT: that linked the wrong ARK page. Do you have the actual product number / name. Are you perhaps meaning a Xeon e-2200?

Perhaps download CPUz and run the validator then post the link here

the e2200 is socket 776, not a laptop cpu

13700H is 45-115w
thats is alot for a laptop, most are <15-60w

If you want to lower the temps even more ,you can disable the turbo mode by lowering the max processor state by 99% ,although it would reduced performance since the CPU speed would not be above the base clock. I have a a 4yrs+old Asus laptop Ryzen 9 4900h/2070 max Q and temps have not exceeded above 70 degrees even on max settings ,60+ fps but it depends on lots of factors still.

With Intel CPUs you can simply adjust the multipliers of all individual cores*100MHz without disabling turbo boost.

As for Ryzen, you can adjust the TDP limit and the CPU will do the rest.

I was able to contact acer and the customer service rep informed me that the laptop is made to perform within those temperature ranges. But now I've ran into a completely different problem

The brand new laptop that I just bought blue screens when I try launching a game or when it's tries switching to or trays using the GPU. I've tried driver uninstaller I've even tried tricks that I've learned over the years and I've tried every single fix I could possibly find on the internet for the error code that I've been given
