Thermaltake smart se 630W... buzz...?
hi, i need a bit of help/advice/opinion on this. just got thermaltake modular psu 630w (87%). it works flawlessly, very quiet and all. played hours of far cry 3, arma 3, black ops 2, etc, no problem, noise or anything.
problem is when i turn off pc. if i put my ear to psu i hear very quiet buzz, like electric of voltage silent buzz, it is constant and same all time. as i said it is very quiet and you can't hear it unless you lean your ear all the way to psu. of course, it goes away when i turn off switch on psu.
is this normal or not? i read different opinions googling, some say it is sign of psu failure but usually is a bit louder, some say that this very quiet buzzing is normal, the one that you cant hear unless you put your ear to the psu, as pc is under electric supply even when turned off. i menationed that psu is new, i just unpacked it yesterday.

thank you on any advice or opinion.

its coil whine
even when the pc is off, its still supplying +5vsb for usb and mobo power button circuitry

if its not too lage return the thermaltake psu, they are very poor
many do not have working protections, or are improperly configured
or ripple/noise levels can get out of spedc and damage other components

pick up a corsair, seasonic, xfx or antec if you can
thank you very kindly for posting. i think i cant take different one, i can just replace this one with identical one if this one is faulty. and even this is upgrade for me as i had axp psu for years :D

so, aside thermaltake not being very top psu, this is normal what i described?
its not completely normal
most that have coil whine, will be silent at idle/low load, and whine with higher loads
ok tnx. but mine is very quiet when i play very "heavy" games. i can hear this only when pc is off, and when i put my ear right on psu.
so if it is brand/series related, no point of getting it replaced with same one, right?
correct
what other brands did they offer?
avoid coolermaster and diablotek too
