Wrong, I saw a guy who listened.
But maybe you should also be annoyed at Steam because they wouldn't change that clear and ostentatious message and said "Windows 7 will stop working in <x> days" to "Windows 7 will now no longer be supported in <x> days."
If you're not frustrated in the way the Steam did that, you probably can't relate to how Windows 7 users felt when they were keep having the message sitting at the top of the client for roughly a year or so.
The two main Windows 7 machines under my desk have had Steam.exe renamed to something like Steam-do-use.exe because Windows 7 is now "unsupported" and despite their statement, there is still fear that they will eventually break the client like they did with XP.
So, Windows 7 is not only still running, but Steam is also providing updates? Certainly sound
like "Steam will stop working [12/31/23 or 1/1/24]" was just flat out not true, even the Steam
client displayed that ugly message/countdown to Windows 7 users since the message's activation.
Since you're answering a question with a question, I still don't know if you were ever frustrated with people who wouldn't listen about how Windows 7 would become unsupported or whatever by Steam at the cutoff date, rather than "stop working" as the Client indicated.
But maybe you're not frustrated with that. I only said "IF you're not frustrated"[emphasis added.]
You seem frustrated with people who wouldn't listen to you when you said you implied that Windows 7 wouldn't be shutoff on the date the client said it would. I don't think it's unreasonable to suspect that you might be given that Steam said one thing in the client while saying another thing on more a less ostentatious fashion.
Quoting your post more fully:
As a more direct answer, I think what I wrote above explains that type of frustration I thought you might be experiencing, and I don't see what you yourself using Windows 7 has to do with be frustrated with people who "wouldn't listen." So as far as I know you might have been frustrated with those people (perhaps including myself) even though you don't use Windows 7.
I hope this explanation helps.
Meanwhile Chrome is on v120 or 121
Which puts Win7 users behind by about 200 versions or so. Many years behind.
I suppose it's fine. I don't see the need to have Valve force Steam Client to stop working on Win7/8 and I suppose it's fine if a user had a need to keep running that OS for their Media PC and retro games.
